Not sure, just what Justin stated. Maybe to make it smaller? Looking at the archived contests back to 2009 looks like they usually started first week or two of July
Maybe by waiting later they expect to weed out some of the “mildly interested” folks that sign up and then end up not participating much or at all within their teams. Sound logic if you ask me. Our team was great last year but as I understand it that wasn’t the case for several teams. Just gotta hope that if the sign up window is short that no one who really wants to participate misses it due to being super busy or some other such odd circumstance.
Raise the minimum poat count to 100 to participate. That will weed out the enthusiastic sign ups that no show. If you cannot hit 100 post on here, you are not here. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I almost agree with that, but I cant say that new guys were ever a problem when it came to participating or honesty on scoring, etc in my limited experience. Didnt we have a problem last year filling the teams? Anyway you are right about not really being here if you cant reach a hundred posts, so it makes sense. You Got it. Two years ago I had that happen. Shot a little buck opening day and gave my team a head start.
Know I’m being impatient (like trying to patiently wait for deer season, which we all know ain’t happening) but can’t wait for some formality with the contest this year to start developing ( was bummed the turkey contest was so weak this spring, I love my turkeys be easy on me) This contest is always great and meet some GREAT dudes participating and follow some awesome stories!
What happened last year with the teams is the random generator thing-a-ma-jig used wasn't afjusted for the number of teams to entry numbers. It was set at 27 teams(2017 total after alternates) from the start so it assigned one player to a team until they were exhausted which left some having 12 and the rest fewer. It should have been adjusted to 23 teams to start with 273 sign ups and 12 champion members equalling 285 divded by 12 is 23.75 teams. The remaining 8 entries would have then been placed at the top of the alternates thread and once all no shows were replaced new teams created with the remaining alternates.
