You gotta admit that it is a pretty snake. I am glad to hear it is no longer with us. Did you save the skin?

That was my exact reaction to my first ever rattlesnake. I honestly lost the ability to do anything but stammer "rrrr rrrr rattrrr" for a good 10 seconds lol!

Yes it was very nice looking. I did not save it though. Last time I did a large one and after the process it did not come out well. Would be cool to get it pat down to have some big skins on the wall

I see gators everyday but not where I hunt. On my way to work and back. I had a small one (4ft) close to that feeder a few years ago but it disappeared and I haven't seen any since.

This has been in interesting thread and many replies. Going back over them reminds me of a time a friend and I were trout fishing. It was just getting dusk and we decided to call it a day. Don stepped out of the river about ten feet in front of me. He almost stepped on a snake; missed by inches. It didn't move or even attempt to strike. Maybe the cool weather along the river had it slow down. He almost fainted when he saw it! Been on the water, in the water, in the woods and have rarely seen a snake. Wonder how many I didn't see.
