I can't believe it's almost here, I've been so damn busy I haven't even logged into this forum for over a month. I am no where close to even thinking about getting ready and it does not look like it's going to slow down anytime soon. Perhaps one of my two mounts will be ready to pickup soon and that will get me back into it.

Cameras deployed on private. Only going to check them once in late August. I went about things a little different this year. I took a climbing stick with me and put them up about 8’ and brushed them in. I’ve put too much stock in cameras the past years, and while it’s fun, I feel it’s put a damper on my hunting.

Hard to think about hunting when it is 100 degrees day after day. I need to move somewhere cooler when I get older.

Didn't you just move south...in VA?

It was balmy the past few days though...

I’m so ready, I catch myself piddle fartin around with my hunting gear for no reason. Outing rest of my cameras out this week to inventory what I’m going after this year. Only thing keeping me sane is target practice and shooting groundhogs around the farm

Don’t be afraid to get up in those hardwoods. Chances are that’s where you’re going to find them during daylight

    Curious on something.

When will you back out in preparation for the first hunt? Do you already have the info necessary to kill him in 2 months? Obviously you won't know the weather until go time, but have you already found other beds he uses or do you get more agressive a few weeks before the hunt to make the game plan?

You make it look easy, but I know it's not. Last year it all came together until the shot but you were still able to find another and kill him quickly.

I got really aggressive early to find him and figure out right where he was. I will keep up with him passively until a week or two before I plan to try and kill him, then I'll get real aggressive again. Nearly all the summer bedding is food source based, so what he's doing now is pretty close to what he will be doing the first couple weeks of September.
