Ok folks Im looking at some new arrows. 70lb, 29 in in draw, shooting a 100gr fixed blade head (magnus stinger, might go buzzcut) Im looking for something in the mid 400 finished weight, nothing super specific, just looking to move into the heavier side, around 10 gpi or so. Mid price point, I'm currently looking at the Carbon Express Mayhem, and Black Eagle Renegade. For most brands I'm in that 340 spine range I think the Black Eagle would be 300 Lets hear em!
I’m shooting a Halon 32, 68lbs, 28.5” draw. Arrows are Gold Tip Hunter XT 300’s, 28” carbon to carbon, regular aluminum inserts with 50g screw in weights. 4 fletch with a 5” wrap, bushings, and GTO nocks they come in at 475g with a 100g head. You could do a lighter screw in weight, but I’d still run a 300 spine. Swap the bushing a GTO nock for a nockturnal and they shoot the same, it’s like 3 grains difference or something like that.
hmmm might have to steal that set up... At first I was concerned the gold tip chart is different from all the others, I thought I should be running a 340/350 spine (Huntersfriend puts me .333-.370 actual spine deflection) But a lot of folks are saying the GT chart is the most up to date. my bow is just not that new though, its a 2012, single cam with IBO of 325.... I just dont have the money to buy the wrong spined arrows and experiment
Well if you don’t add any weight, you’d be right on the money with a 340 depending on arrow length. I’m always right on the edge of a 340 or a 300 so when I put the 50g up front, I knew I had to go stiffer.
with Renegades (assuming you use the included 50gr half outs) you will be at about 500gr. I'm at about 520 finished arrow weight @ 30" (including Nocturnals.) Oh yeah - 250s. Not sure what IBO your Parker is rated but at that poundage and DL I am guessing like both Slick and I you would be right on the borderline b/t 250-300 so with the half outs you ought to go heavier.
ok going gold tip 300 (in the form of black out ) and Im gonna see if they tune, if they dont Ill put the weight up front to weaken it some
i have maxima blu rz's at 435 gr might not be as heavy as you are looking but its a light arrow with weight upfront. its cut to 29.5 inches and I dont think I could add more weight based on spine. This arrow clips along about 290 out of my carbon knight 30 inch 65 pound
So with the bushing i will need the GTO nocks instead of the standard GT nocks correct? Does the GTO nock fit the same on the serving as the GT?
Serving is the same. I went to the GTO nocks bc I had nock pinch issues. Thought I fixed it with a skinnier nock, but I ended up tying nock sets.
