So I bought my first tractor this year, my neighbor “true” farmer is a huge red Case guy, he’s got a great 75 hp, I had to go for a Deere, I had one as a kid growing up, 12 hp. Now 50hp, I did what I never do, wanted 4wd but I opted for a loader no cab instead. Now I understand real farmers have two, one for the dirty work one the other cab AC, 4wd, get the picture? I love that JD green and have since I was a kid. My real pride and joy is a 1963 JD 1010 that my grandad bought new, my dad bought it from him in the 80's and I acquired it about 5 years ago. Its currently at the mechanics being completely overhauled and I have a line on a guy to repaint it. Hopefully by this time next year it will be fully restored. I also own a JD 4230 and a 7830 but those are my big farm tractors.
We have a 35 hp JD. We got on a great deal years ago when a rich guy bought it brand new and traded it in 2 yrs later for a bigger model. Front end loader and a backhoe. Man did I get a lot of things done with that backhoe. It's been a work horse. We also have 2 JD lawn tractors all older models and solid workers use them all for plot work and mowing. Of course for our 35 anniversary we bought a new JD Gator, that has had some issues. A clutch issue they knew about but didn't cover and a recent steering recall that they came and picked it up at zero cost to us.
You gotta use what your budget will allow. The rear end is out of the Craftsman now..go figure. But I have this tank of a Cub Cadet now
Been there done that! We still have one, I can't think of brand /model at the moment but it was my big orange beast with huge back tires and small front ones . Man did that thing have...arse...lol
I was raised on a dairy farm in central Ohio. We had four tractors- two Farmall, one Cockshutt (local farm bureau brand), Ford 9N. They were always dirty. Air conditioning was something you looked for in a restaurant in those days. The front door would have a sign with a polar bear sitting on an iceberg.
I farm so this is cheating but here are a couple of ours. Who doesn't like looking at tractors! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Wow,nice tractors Greatwhitehunter. I have a smaller homestead of 45 acres and bought a 45 hp New Holland 4wd tractor. I have to say that it's been a real work horse. I have around 14 attachments for it including a JD 2 row planter, backhoe w/thumb, grapple, bush hog and more. One can never have too many attachments! When I first got it Clearing a food plot out in the woods it has toppled some pretty big trees
Ran a handful when I was a kid and always wanted my own. Bought my Kubota L3901 now a little over a year ago, I use it on a 135 acre hunting property close to the house and on our 6 acre house property too. I have just over 60 hours on it now and it’s been great for what I need a tractor for. I do wish I would have bought the next frame size larger, I can see when we buy a larger farm it would be nice to cut work time down with larger implements. I have a la525 loader, 66” tiller, 72” bush hog, and a 72” back blade for it. It powers all of that just fine. Someday I hope to own a larger farm and at that point I’ll consider selling and upgrading a bit.
I want to see more tractors, when is best time to buy a new DeerOct? Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
The only tractor I have. I use it for food plots and my cows. I can’t afford the luxury tractor yet! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Me too! I rent that one from the county. $99 twice a year. Cheaper than buying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
