Figured it's about that time to start up this year's waterfowl thread.

With my new dog this will be my first year attempting to dabble with waterfowl hunting. I bought a house right on the Mississippi River last October and I could hear duck hunters shooting pretty much every morning last year so I should be able to luck into some at least lol I will need the luck though.

Best of luck to you! Waterfowl hunting can be awesome and the most frustrating thing in the world. Enjoy the time out with the pup and that's all that matters!

Anyone make/making any big waterfowl purchases this year or big trips planned?

Little over 3 weeks until early goose opener here in MN. Starting to see a few more every day flying around. Small grain should start coming out next week around the countryside. With as much PP acres as there is around here, they will likely be very spread out.

I have been seeing a lot of geese in western Illinois. I was invited by the future brother in law so hopefully I’ll get out a few times with the pup.

Duck hunted last year and want to venture into getting an ascend h12 kayak and redhead blind. Some good opportunities on kayak duck hunting for me here in eastern NC on public land. Anyone else duck hunt in south eastern NC or nearby?

Early goose starts here next Sunday. Haven't seen hardly any geese in the area yet. Well below normal for highs for the extended forecast so that may change.

Hunted the pasture this morning. Very little moving and shot the only bird that decoyed.

Awesome to have this thread up and running again!

Had a rough teal opener last weekend, they just arent here yet in Iowa. But had a good run getting the.boats and dekes out, working out the kinks of a new boat and blind.

Really excited for goose opener in 2 weeks.

Also have a trip to Alaska in November to hint some sea ducks, pretty excited. [IMG]

2 more out of the pasture this morning before I had to go to work. This will be the last hunt of early season for me as it ends Sunday.

Love this annual thread! We have had a great early goose season so far. Plenty of birds around this year and scouting hard in the evenings has really paid off.

Other than that, I will be taking my first hunting trip in January to Kansas. Can’t wait!

Some pics from this early season. Early teal ended today but our early goose season goes until the 30th.

This year will be a little different for me. I have a 14ft jon boat with a long tail motor to get me around this year. It’s been a busy summer with work and moving. So the boat project has been pushed aside. I plan I’m getting a new coat of paint on it here in the next week. Should be a good year though I’ll be able to get back into some better looking holes now with the boat.
