Went to the fridge to grab a drink and see this gal munching on foliage. All winter they kept coming into the big oak and eating the acorns. It’s 17 yards to the base of the tree. Have a great summer guys won’t be long!
I have my buck from last year out of the ground, all cleaned up and now I am whitening him! I must say burying the skull in the ground is a great way to clean it if you are not in a rush!!

Like Benny, I also am going to have an interesting hunting year. I am all moved out to Northern Colorado and full swing with the job. Like I have said a couple times, I will be looking to shoot up to South Dakota a few weekends for some mule deer/whitetail hunting. Which is kinder on the budget than getting a non-resident elk tag this year for Colorado. I will wait till next year when I am a resident and only need to spend $50. It does look like I will be needing to shoot home for a weekend wedding in November (dumb, I know). So if the timing is right I might be able to get in a stand. I am excited about what this team is going to do this year! For now, I will be scouting bulls in CO and making a couple trips to check out western SD and the bucks there. Make sure you guys post up some pictures as that velvet is growing! I have seen 4 whitetails since I got here... and these weren't them.
I just started a new job also. Ohio department of ag. I might miss the family beach vacation, but I will earn enough PTO for a rutcation.
I am currently looking for a job in the Outdoor industry....a long shot I know but it is worth a shot, I just applied for a content producer position with Sitka so who knows!!
Hey guys, I just wanted to post this here before I post it other places. I'm going to get a new bow so I'm selling old faithful. Hoyt Charger, 28 inch draw length, set at 70 pounds. Last time I had it speed tested it was shooting 278-285fps. It has some small wear and tear on it but overall it's pretty clean. Has a fuse stabilizer, qad drop away rest, and I'll throw in 5-6 gold tip 340 grain Arrows. Replaced the string last year. $275.
i'll be heading out to start a new mineral site tomorrow afternoon. this spot is going to be interesting to see what kind of inventory is there. should be good. nothing like backpacking 80lbs 2 miles in. i might put a camera there and let it soak since its so far?
just got back home. i got the mineral in and put a camera on it. now time to wait. major deer trails everywhere in there. i am anxiously waiting to pull the card from this spot since i've never been in there this early. last year i didn't find this spot until late october and i felt like it was too late in the year to hunt it. this seems like a repeat situation when i killed that big one a couple of years ago. i think i am getting the feel for staying ahead of the deer movement leading to the rut. i got a good feeling for this year.
Besides getting to quote myself today is a great day. I had a sit down with the family that owns the land I manage and their children decided that they will not sell for any amount and I will remain as the property manager indefinitely. And... Like it could not get any better.... The farmer might not be planting this year due to the rain. He missed the soybean deadline and soon it will be too late for corn. That means for the 1000 acre block 1 other guy and I hunt the only food will be my 2 acre plot. Ideas for the plot?
Food plot the entire farm??? Weird the soy bean deadline is before corn in NY. Pretty sure it’s later than corn in Illinois. Luckily one of my farms got soy beans in early so I’ve at least got that. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Deadline is June 10 or 12 for bean insurance and corn is depending on what day corn you plant and if it's for ethanol or sweet. Half the fields are planted that's it. It's going to be a crazy year
So we have either a new guy on the property or one of my littlun blew up. He is a tall starter and most of my guys are wider so I can't wait to watch to see what he becomes
