Earlier in the year, I finally moved up to carbon arrows as a result of a Christmas gift card to Bass Pro Shops. I'm trying them out after 40+ years with aluminum. The carbon arrows are the XS Envy 500 with 100 grain bullet points. After a couple of shots, the points loosen and you can hear them rattle when you tap them on your hand. Surely there is something like a lock washer to keep them tight. I had no trouble with the aluminum arrows as I could put a drop of glue on the threads. Heating a bit loosened the glue. Afraid to do this with the carbon arrows as I don't want to ruin the shaft. Thanks.

I always tap an arrow before I shoot it just to make sure the head is tight. I usually tighten them when I walk back from pulling the arrows out of the target.

Sota, so do I but it gets tiresome having to tighten them every two or three shots. Thanks for the reply. Got to be a permanent fix.

What if I want to change to broadheads? Have used Loctite on scope mounts- heat to release. Is blue different?

I have used bowstring wax and put it on the threads, I wouldn't call it a "permanent" fix but if you can't find one this way works!

The blue loctite isn’t permanent, the red loctite is. I have never had a problem getting them loose.

Thanks, arrowflinger1, will get some and try it. Just need to be able to remove the bullet point without heating it and install broadheads for deer hunting.

I see they even have a purple color now, they say it is even weaker strength but I haven’t used it. Just be careful a little goes a long way, just a SMALL drop is all you need, and I mean SMALL. Put too much on and you might not get them out that easy. You can always put more on if they come loose.

I second the string wax. Always works for me.

Another vote for bowstring wax. Works like a charm.

I'm using TopHat points with O-rings, because the rattling tips annoyed me too. A few cents more, but they never get loose, even when tightenend just with the fingers.
    Not sure about broadheads, though.

I normally do like Sota and just tighten them walking back to the target. I do this because I like being able to change one without tools if it gets damaged, like happens when you shoot low on a 3d target and get the metal in the leg sometimes.
In the past I've used pliers to tighten them and they rarely came loose if I did that. I would think blue Loctite would work well too, I use it on all my scope mounts and have never had one come loose or be a problem to get out if I decided to remove them.

Got another dozen carbon arrows at Bass Pro yesterday. The guy in the archery section was an old time 3D shooter several years ago at my home club. I put the question to him- a small square of plumber's tape. I have yards of that left over from building custom fishing rods. Thanks to all. That is why I check here at least once a day- good BHers and good advice.

I use the field points with an o-ring, that solved the issue for me.

Took a few minutes and wrapped some plumber's tape around six points. Cut the tape a bit long so it will be snug around the threads and the shoulder of the point. Now to shoot them for field testing. Any excuse to shoot!

Mr. O, will keep that in mind in case the tape doesn't work. Thanks.
