Don't think anything has changed- Oct 11-14 so as not to interfere with rut and also benefiting those of us who get Columbus Day off as a holiday.

Think Alma was the plurality consensus although there's a lot of additional land within a 30 min drive of there.

Well, somehow I missed out on my 1/10,000 chance to score a Kentucky elk permit so there is nothing standing in my way for Ohio deer.

Been doing some heavy scouting this summer. Have one giant located. Have noticed a lot of premature oaks being dropped. Seeing a TON of deer. Im thinking the one doe on public land law that went into effect last year may be paying off for me here in vinton county! Should be an awesome trip for everyone in my opinion.

I haven't got a chance to look at my work schedule yet so not 100% when/if I'll be able to check on everyones success lol I'm off the entire next week for a down week I know so I imagine we'll be running hard the week everyone is down. Stick to the clearcut edges!

Where are you guys going again this year? I don’t want to scroll through everything to find it.

I'm not the organizer nor the arbiter- but I am sure there's plenty of room

your backyard...somewhere down near Vinton Furnace, IIRC. Too tired to look for the specific campground right now.

From what I've seen a few guys are staying at Lake alma campground. Which has power and such. They also have a small amount of archery hunting but not sure the dates you can hunt it because I never have. Vinton furnace has a hunters camp for guys that rough it like me lol no power just a lot but does have a bathroom there. Usually where I camp and hunt. As far as public land you have vinton furnace, Richland furnace, lake Rupert, Cooper Hollow, and zaleski state forest all within 30ish miles of each other one way or another. Theres other small pockets I find too. I live in McArthur which is only like 8 miles from lake alma if you have any questions I can probably help. Haven't figured out the work schedule yet but hoping to do a little hunting and meet up with some guys for sure.

I used to do the meet up Ohio hunts back in like 2013/2014, would love to catch up with some of the old timers if they came.

Not sure who all is coming. Ive only been a member since last year although I've followed the forum for a while. Everyone should have a good time. Mid and late October are the best here on public for me. Before the rut rush comes in...we usually camp the last week of October and at least one of us always lays a buck down that week. I'd imagine a little sooner wouldn't hurt either lol should be laying some scrapes by then.
