I finally got a turkey with my bow after years of trying and it came on opening day. I couldn't of asked for a better shot. The bird didn't do 20 feet and died as you will see in the video. With some footage of an albino hen that comes in.
I would have liked the albino hen feathers, as fletchings for my horsebow arrows... Any particular reason for shooting the turkey in the butt ? Sorry, but no free-ranging turkeys and no bowhunting where I live.
Its the best place to shoot a turkey with an arrow. It's a straight shot to its vitals and as you seen in the video the bird didn't go 10 yards and died. The next place is broadside but when they are puffed up in full strut its hard to tell what's bird and what's feathers.
Right. I have seen a YT video about turkey shot placement options in the meantime, also suggesting a butt shot. Turkeys inhabit only farms in Europe, and the indigenous wood grouse of similar size - if you happen to see one - is protected.
Hey first off congrats, loved it. I have been digging into color phase birds as I killed a rare red phase Tom this spring and a dandy at that. That Hen is actually a smoke color phase, a true albino is solid white and has the traditional pink in areas of the head. Not taking away from this because your Hen is beautiful and also rare. Just thought you would like to know. cool vid indeed!
Great shot and great bird! I've seen an albino hen once and they look pretty cool. I typically like the birds facing me and if the head is up, shoot right between the red throat and top of the beard or straight away like you did. Congrats!
