My Moultrie 990i kicked the bucket, called them up they said since its out of warranty theres nothing they can do, I even offered to pay to have it fixed they said they couldnt I was pretty much just outta luck. super bummed pretty crumby timing too.
Typically they would atleast offer to give you so much off a new cam. I dont know of anyone who fixes them though. I just traded 2 broken ones in on 2 new stealth cams.
Same thing happened to me, moultrie cams seem to die between 3_4 years, trying a spypoint, on sale now I L Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
Oh great! Now if find this out. Year 3 for 2 of my cams. My first cam was one that used a 6v battery. That died last year. Used it for about 10 years.
Have you taken it apart to see if it's an easy fix? I have fixed Coverts a couple of times. Depending on the problem it may be an easy fix.
I had two moultries die on me. One was an M80Black, which was a great camera. The other was a 990i like yours. They couldn’t do anything. Stinks because both lasted only 2 seasons.
I had 2 Spypoint cams for couple years and both died a early death. I wouldn't have another one unless someone gave it to me free. Then I would trade it off fast. On another forum everyone had the same results. That forum used to buy direct from Spypoint in bulk but no more.
I have took a couple A30 apart. I just bought a broken one on eBay and replace my motion Lens. After doing it I wished I would of thrown it away. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
best way to fix those is to very slowly walk into the kitchen with it...then stand over the trash can and drop it in.
Haha! The better solution is to take it to public land and set it on a tree, then it becomes somebody's else problem when they steal it! Sent from my SM-G900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
A fitting punishment indeed for someone who steals a camera.. They would probably bring the thing back
Holt, when I lived in Queens, NY, the NYC sanitation workers went on strike. One enterprising fellow would put his garbage in a box, wrap it in brown paper and tie it with string. Then he would leave it on the front seat of his car with the windows down. You can figure the rest!
I've had the same Moultrie cam for about 10 years now, still going strong. It is one of my favorites because the sensitivity is lower than the newer ones so it doesn't take near as many false pictures. It has locked up twice in that time, but both times the hard reset button in the battery area solved the issue. Kind of surprised to see that some hate them, I would buy another one after the experience with my first one. Perhaps they've cheaped out on them, see that happen with a lot of things these days.
Id he tried that again on this climate he would probably come back to his car cordoned off awaiting a controlled explosion lol
I too have had great luck with Moultrie Cams. I sold 4 M80XDs that were 5 years old on Archerytalk. The combination of those cameras took over 100,000 pictures with no problems. I replaced them with Moultrie W40i cameras from EBay. I have 10 of them now. While once in a while they stop taking pictures I have had a great luck returning them to a dealer who sends them back for a replacement, no questions asked. I have several that are 3 and 4 years now and very reliable. Basically I’d buy from EBay and find a dealer who can return them if something goes wrong. Moultrie is more receptive this way.
