So as some here know, I have a few sets of Piebald whitetails in my area and on my place. I saw this one a few times throughout the season but never noticed it may be a button buck until I pulled cards yesterday.

That's pretty cool. I don't care to have that gene running around here too much but I'd sure love to have the melanistic genes in our herd.

I've only seen one melanistic buck, some grandma in Michigan, maybe? Really cool.

He'll be easy to track for years to come if he's able to make it through the seasons!

Not sure, there are supposedly a couple of counties in Texas where they're less uncommon. Seems like quite a mystery but they sure look awesome. I doubt a piebald mostly white deer around here would last a month from the road hunters but a black one might.

I hadn't seen this doe since gun season so I had assumed she had been shot but here she is again! And my little button buck as a comparison.

That is really awesome. Are you allowed to shoot them in your state? Would you?

I know albino moose up here in Canada are off limits.

They are legal to shoot and I did take a nice 8 point piebald a few years ago. 20180913_123315.jpg
