I just want to go on record now by saying I fully intend on shooting a turkey in the face this weekend. I have a big tom that's on my cell camera virtually every day around the same time in the same spot I killed my bird last year. Most of the time he's all alone and he's often there several times a day. Unless one of the neighbors kills him before I get there this weekend I believe he has a date with a Spitfire XXX to the noggin.

Decoys are going at 8 yards. If he commits to them he's in trouble. I'm deadly when the distance is in single digits. :chewy:

    That is all.

Best of luck to you. Still waiting here, and waiting and waiting...thank heaven it's been cold and windy.

The big flocks have broken up..the gobbling has slowed and the hens are just starting to look for nesting sites.
I hope they do a good job, for one camera in 2 days had 29 videos. All of several different fox, raccoons and opossum. Only thing missing were the fisher and weasels.

He was there late today. Almost 1 pm and he was with a lady. I'm not a fan of this.

Forecast for Saturday is 68 and sunny. Should be a good morning to kill.

The first appearance today was at 10:55. He was back a bunch of times throughout the day. Sometimes with hens, sometimes without.

Yesterday was a hen fest all morning and he didn't show on camera until after legal shooting time. So far today it's this lonely hen looking for her fix.

My guess is that it's going to be a long morning in the blind tomorrow. The same thing happened last year. Hens showed up between 10 and 11 and the toms were closer to noon. I'm hoping since I'll be setup right in his main strutting zone that he'll get pissed and come into the jake decoy.

If nothing else it will be a nice morning to sit in the blind, drink some coffee and get caught up on some Netflix.

Final update before the hunt. He was a no-show today for the first time in the last 2 weeks! Had a few hens there all morning including the same bearded hen that I saw last year. Unless someone killed him today I have to believe he's still in the area. So I'm gonna stick it out, hit the call and see what happens.

I'll check in from the blind tomorrow.

2 big toms this morning but too many hens around. The bigger one got to 35-40 big just wouldn’t commit to the decoys. He’s not far. Hoping he’ll grow some balls and strut out before the day is over.

I quit reading when I got to "in the face". Why?? Why brag about it?? I expect better from you. Stuff like this gives hunters a bad image.

Would "in the head' be better? Because that's what I intend on doing. I've never been one to sugar coat things.

Didn't kill one today but I moved the blind and got everything ready for Monday morning. Watched a couple of toms strut around for over 3 hours at about 80-100 yards. So I moved right on top of them. We'll see if that does the trick.

Good luck JZ. They whipped me this weekend on public. Could've shot a Jake "in the face" but passed. Man it's tough.
