It wasn't the most action-packed episode ever, but it certainly didn't beat around the bush getting some of this season's plotlines out in the open. I quite enjoyed it and look forward to the rest of them. As someone who read all of the books and has followed the series since it's inception, I believe the one thing we should have all learned by now is that you rarely see things coming. I'm not even going to waste my time trying to predict what's going to happen. I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the show.
Yea from reading Martin all these years no he will would kill off everyone's favorite puppy without a second thought.
Martin said he knew what he needed to have happen in the red wedding but he couldn't bring himself to write it at first. He said he had to go on and write the rest of the book and come back and write that scene last, even contemplating how he could creatively write a way to save the main characters before convincing himself once more of what "had to happen". I found that story interesting.
I agree, but I also find a lot of entertainment discussing possible theories and scenarios, which just makes the experience even better. I fully expect that no matter how many scenarios that I think of, the directors will still surprise me and I wouldn't have it any other way. Has anyone read the GoT universe books out side the main story line?
As short as the episode was, I'm glad they didn't drag out any of the reunion parts. I want to theorize what will happen, but I think it's best to let it play out and enjoy the ride. I can see a huge issue if Dany bows to Jon in regards to her Army, yet, I think the dothraki would be the only issue. The no nut army would follow if she tells them too. Overall., I think there will be a compromise that suites all as best they can.
I think Dany and John make the perfect Targaryen royal couple (considering the Targaryen history of in family marriage). John has (or had) the North, Dany had her army and the dragons, John is the rightful king, Dany's claim is the second strongest...I hope they wed and seal it. Knowing GRRM though I doubt it'll happen or if it does, one or both will die shortly after, lol.
No Arya, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! now I know a little bit of how all you dads the felt first time you figured "that" out. Somehow I was more disturbed at that than I was all the times she gutted someone like a fish. So the bad timing theme continues...He just had to tell Dany right before the Dead cleared the horizon?
I too, felt odd about that situation. Cliff hanger...but do we really need any cliff hangers to keep us watching. I think it was best to do it that way so we don't have to watch some non-sense arguing between them. If the rumors that the next battle is going to be more intense than the battle of the bastards, it is going to be insanely awesome.
This was my favorite episode ever. They captured the best of humanity. love, redemption, forgiveness and hope.
I've heard it claimed that the next episode's battle will be the biggest battle in TV history. I don't know quite how to feel or wha tto say about the Arya+ Gendry thing.

All I gotta say is I did not need Arya's butt or side-boob to complete my life. Body double or not, I felt dirty.
I guess she's 22 IRL- and Gendry is 31. ...sooooo, same age difference as my wife and I. BAM! Also she apparently did not use a body double.
So far this season has not dissapointed me at all! Last night's episode was great! The group sitting around the fire last night was showing their world as they knew it, before a battle that will change everything as we all know it. I could relate to them sitting around the fire,, reminded me of our final night in the states a few hours before we got on the C-5 to go to Iraq. We were all sitting in a big locked room that was guarded by MP's. Smoking butts, playing cards, like it was our last night on earth. There are so many major character deaths coming next week. I don't even know where to begin speculating. I have so many thoughts I can't put them into words yet.
