Just bought a fishing kayak. Lets see your setup and some DIY mods! Here’s my new set up. Never been in a kayak, but I’m ready to give it a shot.

There is a kayak bass fishing club in Chattanooga that holds tournaments. Nice for fishing but not good for water skiing.

Not really a mod but get scupper plugs for those self bailing holes or your going to end up with a wet butt.

Picked one up last spring and never got around to getting it ready, so I'm in the same....boat.

If you will be using it for fishing you may want to add an anchor trolley system. It allows you to drop your anchor and then slide the anchoring point to the back of the kayak so you stay pointed in one direction. If you are anchored by your hip you will end up spinning around which can be frustrating. You may also want to add something to hold your paddle as you fish. My kayak has a holder on the side that keeps it out of the way for fishing and easy to access if needed in a hurry.

Man, didn’t realize that comment would reel in any dislikes.

I read your post and thought "Who would possibly dislike that." Once I looked and saw it was me I was shocked. Sorry, It was a slip of a finger. I'm interested in this thread so check on it when I'm on line. Good luck fishing!

Best one I've ever had. My old Dad must have felt bad seeing me and my boy paddling around in 15 yr old kayaks. Haha. He bought it for me.

That looks awesome, love that elevated seat. I might break down and get a yak finally. Been wanting one for quite a while

I've not used it for fishing, but put a trolling motor on it for deer hunting.

Have you hauled any deer in it?

Just be careful in shallow water with a drop down pedal propulsion system. Rocks will tear those props up.

Here’s mine. Only mod is the anchor trolley system. I’ve used it goose hunting and duck hunting but never for deer. The extra weight of the animal would push me over the limit for the boat and could be a tough situation given we usually hunt in colder temperatures.

For anybody considering getting a kayak, I’d highly recommend the elevated seat.

I hear you. When I get close to anything like that I'm gonna pull up the prop and go to the paddle.

No, but won't be a problem if or when the need arises. I block my deer out in the field.

Got my anchor trolly installed. If the rain holds out Friday, I’m going to try to get on some fish.
