I have been going through the computer and found some more photos from a previous hunt-: you will notice the EMU has to bend its legs forward at the knee joint, also some goats coming into the water, and a couple of shingle back lizards
Some more Trail camera photos taken by a friend that has set up this watering point so the Hog deer have water all year round,
Photo of a Sambar Deer....not sure where this was taken, but i presume in the high country of Victoria
Interesting photos. Sambar are native to India if I recall from reading a book by Col. James Corbett. Will research but I think they might be referred to as the barking deer, barking like a dog.
John- You are correct, Sambar deer originaly came from the Indian sub-continent, also the Chital deer we have here in Australia also from the same region, along with the hog deer, the deer were introduced into Australia around 150 years ago, the sound the Sambar deer make puts shivers up your spine, especially when you are slowly walking through the bush, they can be standing still and are very hard to see, then they will give that sound and it makes you jump right out of your skin..
