Starting from nothing: barrel $120 stock $120 trigger $50 receiver is the one i'm not sure on yet $ for whatever optics and bipod etc.,. These are the mid to low end $ of what a guy could buy.
Just found this online Part Model Cost Receiver BRN-22 Railed $89.99 Stock Magpul Hunter X-22 $132.95 Barrel E.R. Shaw Target Barrel $108.99 Trigger Ruger Trigger Guard Assembly $47.99 Bolt Ruger Bolt Assembly $33.99 Bolt Handle Power Custom Competition $31.99 Receiver Pins Ruger Factory Replacement $4.99 Takedown Screw Volquarstan Socket Head $4.99 Bolt Stop Pin Ruger Factory Replacement $3.99 Total: $459.91 So this would be about $175 for the receiver and 'guts'. What would stop a guy from buying this and at least have a working rifle right off the bat, plus having the receiver to build off of? https://grabagun.com/ruger-10-22-carbine-bl-full-syn.html
What are your guys' thoughts on red dot sights? I would like a scope for a large majority of the time but shooting varmints, alot of times at night, in/around barns could be tough with a scope. 99% sure i'll go with a scope but want to hear some opinions if anyone has any.
I'm with your 99%. Scope all the way here. Red dots are fine for quick snap shots but with a .22 I want the precision of a crosshair.
That's a good question! Got it together about 9 last night and I need to get the next size up in ring bases to gain a little more clearance from the stock before I shoot it. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
greatwhitehunter3, that is a nice tricked out 10/22. Accuracy seems to be good. Just got a new scope for mine and need to try it. My son converted his to a tack driving target rifle. BTW, for those who are against AR type rifles, they don't realize that is really a 10/22 underneath all those extras. They would say it is a military rifle and want to ban it. Just a thought. Edit: When they first came out in the mid 60s, the Naval Academy bought a bunch and converted them to target rifles.
I didn't have time today but looking forward to dialing in one of the two best ones; likely the Remington since it's shooting really well and it's cheap. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I have gone through several rimfire scopes on a model 52 sporter I have, Nikon’s, Vortex , Leupold ...and I am probably missing a couple before I settled on a Meopta Rimfire model, picked it up at cameraland ny for under 500. It’s the nicest by far.
I've used some cheap red dots and higher end stuff like aimpoint and EOtech Holo sights, they are fun for shooting steel targets, but I wouldn't use them if I was gonna go hunting with it. Especially not small game.
yup...have one, and, love it. modified it a bit. (trigger, stock, magazine release, bolt handle) ultra-customizable platform, easy to get parts for, stupid accurate.
