Collin and I (and ruck) had a great morning! I believe he will sum it up and post pics some time today.
I survived... Fix picked up a dandy 5 point side and Ruck matched him up about an hour and a half later on a buck he knows very well. I was ecstatic! We found 4 total. Here’s some highlights , not of Fix because that’s scary. Fix’s Side Rucks side Together Glamour Shot
Ruck is awesome and it's a great set gross 130 with 30+circumstance inches guys think the dog is my lucky charm.
Just found a real nice 5 point shed with a wicked cool brown tine! This is off the buck my best friend shot in November and we never found it, so this could be reassuring that we found this shed I think. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Wash your hands dirtbag lol Sorry its Sunday ( wine day) with me and the misses. Thank God for my oldest getting her license
Hopefully this is the beginning of a 3-4 year story of me killing giant. Back in October I got 1 picture of a pretty good looking young buck, but the picture did not show much of what he was working with. I pretty much forgot about him as I had other bucks I was trying to hunt. About two weeks later I jumped a buck while walking out of the woods and I could see that his left side was pretty stacked with tines. He was a young deer and I have to say I can't see him being any older than 2.5 this past season. Fast forward again to this past Friday after work. I am shed hunting and stumble upon his right side in a grassy bedding area. I was pumped to know he was alive. Looked for the other side for about an hour and decided it was most likely hidden in the cornfields surrounding the bedding. Ruck is going to have to do some serious work if I have any chance of getting the other side. I have my fingers crossed he can stay safe this coming season and make it to 4 y/o. Highly highly unlikely but it's possible as guys in my block are letting better bucks every year go. I don't really name deer but he may get one this spring if he gives me some quality velvet pictures!
After seeing the pics of that shed (collins) I thought sorry but there is no way that's a NY 2.5 I have held it and boys I'm here to testify it's a 2.5! I have no doubt that Collin is correct in assuming it's about 2-3 years from Booner. And that sheet doesn't happen here often.
Had an interesting encounter yesterday shed hunting a Forest Preserve I hunted a couple years ago. Heard some dogs barking and assumed it was my friends dogs across the road and ignored it. I then saw 6 deer pop out (two of which were shed bucks) and watched them for a while. Then the barking got closer coming from where I had just walked through the woods. I then heard a deer crashing through the brush and it was a stud 2.5 yr old 10 point still holding both sides being chased by a white dog. This dog I’m familiar with unfortunately. The dog is the neighbors by where my best friend hunts and always chases deer when he’s hunting. That is over a mile away from where I was at. The DNR may need to get involved with that landowner regarding their dog don’t you think? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
