Here is my take on scent and scent control.
Have a friend come over to your house, you can smell "their" scent but not your own house. You are oblivious to your own stank but can pick up on theirs.
A deer knows their "home" and introducing a new scent, whatever it is, will still be a new scent they need to determine if it is danger or safe.

Make sure to pick the right tree for the wind also. This will reduce the scent into the traveling paths.

    +3 Evercalm

As a side note. Ever calm is the only scent product I use. In general I am a "no scent is the best scent" hunter. In certain instances where I absolutely can't get into or out of my stand/blind without walking somewhere a deer will cross my track, I rub ever calm on my boots. I have also used it in the tree when a deer circles downwind and gets fidgety. I have watched it calm them down after I rub some on the tree.
