I’ve got a stealth cam G42NG, G45NG and G45NG Pro 22 mp. They’re all on their first year and have only been checked a few times but so far I’ve been happy with their pictures. I haven’t done any comparison or in depth testing on them though.

I’m looking to buy more no glo cams and would appreciate your input on what you’ve owned and if you recommend it or not or what you’ve heard or know about certain cams. Also, anybody know why the G45NG is cheaper on amazon and walmart.com than the G42NG? Isn’t the G45NG newer? I know newer doesn’t necessarily mean better but should I spend $15 more for the 42 over the 45?

Edit: prices have changed the 45 is now more expensive than the 42. I should have kept my mouth shut.

Those are good choices. The only other ones would be the Stealth 4K. It takes fantastic pictures in the picture mode. It is much better than the 42 and 45. I have had all of them.

I've got a few G42 and have been happy with them. Great pics and pretty decent battery life. Also have a Cover MP8 black. Day pictures are fine, night pictures are pretty crap but the battery life is amazing.

I had two Mp8 cams. Great day pics but lots of motion blurring at night.

Full Disclosure I may be slightly biased, but the Radix PS-1X or Mt-100 are both no-glow and take phenomenal quality pics.

Could you post some examples from those cameras? Typically I shy away from no-glow cameras because most of them take pretty bad night pics. I have also found that unless you are doing video, most animals pay very little attention to the flash.

I agree on the flash part. Vast majority of my cameras are low-glow. I haven't seen any real benefit of no-glow cameras as far as spooking deer, and yes the night pic quality is always a touch worse than an IR camera. Give me a few and I'll get some pics to post

Those do seem to be a lot better pics from a no-glow than I have seen in the past. Thanks for posting them.

I hate my Radix camera almost as much as the last of the G42NG's. Stealthcam lost me as a customer forever after effing up the original 42NG cameras with the disgustingly crappy 2nd gen. My Radix takes ridiculously dark daytime pics and that abysmal micro-sd card sucks.

I have not bought any more cameras since last year's new G42's but I'm going to have to buy all new cameras sometime this summer because these POS aren't going to cut it.

I did like the original g42 also. Really ticked me off they could not leave well enough alone. They do have another good one. The ds4k. I just hope they don't mess it up.

Did I ever send you a firmware for those cameras to fix the darkness?

What changed with the G42’s from Gen 1 to Gen 2? What don’t you like about them? I’ve got lots of trespassers on my land so no-glow is kind of necessary for me. The 42’s go for around $80 on ebay sometimes and I’ve been thinking about getting more as I want at least 5-10 more cameras in the next few years.

Quality of the pics dropped way off and the aspect ratio of the pics also changed to the square format whereas the old aspect ratio was wide screen. I think the newer version has the old wide aspect ratio available but only on a low res setting and not on the highest MP setting. They are also very unreliable. I've had the night glow quit on three of the new ones within a month and two quit all together. I don't have any pics left of a direct swap out from the 1st gen to the 2nd from the same spot but the loss in quality is obvious in the following examples. The old G42's claimed to be 10mp and the newer version claims to be 12mp...I call BS.

Well that sucks. If I remember correctly you bought like 10 at once also. Guess I’ll be spending more than I was hoping and get some Browning Dark Ops. Now just got to figure out the difference between them all. Browning’s got a good reputation for their cams from what I’ve read. Anybody like/not like your Dark Ops? I dug up some old threads on the Radix I might give one of those a try also.

I tried the dark ops pro xd and brought it back. It was not worth the cost. Just ok pictures and videos. I do like the Browning spec ops extreme. I now have 3
I also like the Stealth ds4k. I have two of them. I mostly do videos unless they have a option for both. My Stealth, Reconyx, Spartan have the option but browning doesn't.
