I also picked up a new farm yesterday. I actually went to talk to a farm bordering this one about a lease, and that farm basically sucked, but the owner said I should talk to his neighbor, so I did. This piece could be crazy good if I can get food on it. There are no row crops within 3 miles of this farm and it has a ton of structure.

When you keep saying this, do you mean you're leasing or simply got permission?

Both lol. This particular farm I leased. It may pain some elitist folks, but I paid a little over $5/acre.

The elitist folks are the ones that are joining your pool of money to lease up all the ground you can get your hands on. Especially the non-residents. The average "Joe" hunters that live in your area and work for a living are the ones that suffer from someone that is basically outfitting like you are. From the looks of your trail cameras, you had plenty of good bucks to chase last year but couldn't seem to seal the deal. Maybe you don't need more ground, but could focus on learning how to actually kill the top end bucks.

Oh and, why continue to ignore the requests for information about the hunter harassment case? Were those charges dropped? Plea deal on the trespassing charge? Or, did he get fined?

I will be sure to let you know when I care about what you think I look like. I just want an answer to the question about the hunter harassment charge. Several have asked actually. I don't think our state is very good about following up on it and I would guess that is exactly what happened here. Either that or Jordan dropped the charges in a guilty plea deal on his trespassing while deer hunting case.

I'd like to know your secret to getting so many farms. Can you give me a summary of what you say/ask? Nothing crazy just word for word with no details left out.

Honestly it’s just about being personable. I spent more time talking with the owner yesterday than I did walking his ground. We talked about his work at a machine shop, his cows, the price of hay, tractors, horses, propane, county road maintenance....basically everything except hunting. At the very end I asked what it would take to lease the hunting rights. He threw out a number, I agreed and wrote him a check.

You apparently liked what you did see on this property, cutting him a check?

I've never paid for a lease in my life. Wouldn't know how to even fathom that?
I would guess i have permission, aolt of it ( sole) on maybe 4-5000 acres with nothing more than a handshake and a thank you.

    Hey! Wrong again. Normal.

I have zero reason to be jealous of him. None, whatsoever. Not sure why you cant seem to comprehend that, over, and over again. But, you could not be more wrong....again.

Like the thread but one post did make me scratch my head.

"There are no row crops within 3 miles of this farm"

Literally a corn field right across the road... Oh well, still like the photos and check in from time to time.

It’s not corn now. Not sure how old that google photo is. There are horses in that field now.

Last night I had the best shed walk of the year. Picked up 9 in 40 minutes. I only covered 40 acres.

A couple cool firsts for me...this was at a fence crossing. 3 antlers within 6 feet of each other!

Then 5 minutes later it happened again! This was on top of a south facing ridge covered in thermal cover. 3 antlers from 3 different deer within a few feet of each other

    Nice haul.
Years ago, I found 28 in a sugarbeet field.
