Trophy tape allows you to score the antlers easily . [IMG]

Yup I saw that also. Needs to be measured from top of beam, not the middle. Good catch man

Saw it too. Thought maybe he measured from the first line (close to right), since I believe in the good of people first. Isn't it where the tine or point would intersect from origination?

This is the best way to do it. Draw a parallel line across tine just at top of beam then measure from that mark, up the center of tine. You can see the pencil marks in the 2nd pic.[IMG][IMG]

That is how I do it and thought that was correct. Looking at the tape that is approximately where his first line is at, not where it starts. So I gave the benefit of the doubt. Good illustration.

I don't like that trophy tape for a few reasons, going by picture alone.

    1) It does not meet the 1/4" steel tape or wire rope criteria.

    2) I don't like the way it follows the main beam

    3) The circumference placement is not at the narrowest point between the tines.

    4) I don't like the placement on the left side G2

    5) It looks like a lot of wasted time and effort

    6) As mentioned, the tine lengths are not being taken at the top of the beam as Holt's picture shows to be correct, although I use masking tape to keep from marking on the actual antler surface.

I've never bothered to "officially" score any of my deer... plus, we rarely shoot anything too big up here in New England. I do like the trophy tape though as it is the easiest way for someone like me to get a pretty close score of their deer. I used it on my mz buck this year and it was very easy to use. I'm sure I was a eight of an inch off here and there, but that doesn't matter much to me since I'm not worried about entering it into the book, which I have never done..
