I'm in Indiana for 2 weeks. Technically I'm marking hazard trees along the powerlines, but it involves quite a bit of shed hunting. 10.5 miles so far and no bone to show for it...

No sheds being found in the office. That sounds like a sweet gig Josh!

I found a dandy shed on a Syracuse turf field. That buck was looking for food in the wrong place, but that shed sure stood out!

Have been on quite the hunting gear binge, as of late. Just got some Vortex Viper HD's in 10x50 and a Vortex Ranger 1800. I now have my old range finder available so if you or anyone you know could use it, shoot me a PM. Its an older Cabelas one that is decent at best but it works just fine! I'd ship it out for free for someone who could use it.

Sometimes. These Indiana right of ways are full of locust saplings and everything else that wants to stab me. And my line (circled in white) wasn't in the most convenient spot.

And my line ended at what I'm going to assume is a hunting outfitter. At least 6 elevated blinds and a stand in every corner of the field.

I just can't see that being a too awfully fun style of hunting. There is not many sites that are cooler than watching a buck sneaking through the hardwoods from a treestand or ground blind. Late season with a muzzleloader, I'll take that insulated blind all day long.

IMG_2443.jpg IMG_2444.jpg My dog Ruck, who is going to be 6 months old this week, found his first solo shed this weekend. I don't think I have been anymore proud in my life. We were working a thick patch of redbrush that the deer travel through to get to feed. He was working ahead of me about 20 yards, when I looked up and saw him tearing ass right to me with a shed in his mouth. He about knocked me over with it. He dropped it as he tackled me and got a ton of praise, and just like that he had no more interest in it and went to sniffing again. It was a little 4 point side with a pretty infected looking base, but is right up there in my favorite sheds! I also found a pretty nice 4 point side late but that doesn't have a cool story.

Hey fellas, went to Oklahoma Rack Madness and had my Kansas buck officially scored. I apologize for over scoring my buck he grossed 151 1/8 and netted 145inches. Hopefully I'll do better next year :)

So, looks like my buddy that hunts with me a few times a year is moving to the same town that my property is in. It will be nice to have alot more help moving stands, plotting and trimming.
The most important season begins in a week or so.
    PREP season!
Put in the time boys we need to keep the belt another year

We may finally be getting a thaw next week so I can actually get into places with ice skating back everywhere. Prep season is important for us and I hope to do some more things to help improve where I hunt this year. I’m also REALLY looking forward to killing some turkeys this year. I’m going for the long beard triple in Illinois this year with my bow.
