Hunting bow weight

    What weight is your hunting bow set at? Currently I'm shooting 65lbs but would like to be back to 70lbs before deer season. I had a elbow injury and have shot a crossbow for the past 3 years but it just isn't the same to me.

    63 here. I can pull more but find 63 to be comfortable. Especially later in the season when it’s colder and wearing bulkier cloths.

    I may not increase. Before I hurt my elbow all I shot was 70 pounds but I know bows are more efficient now. But if I can pull and hold 70 just as good as 60 seems 70 would be better.

    Not really. A pass through is a pass through. And if you didn't get one at 60 or 65 it is not likely due to draw weight. Look at broadhead design, arrow flight instead. With the right head and a perfect tune you'll get more pass through's at 50# then you will at more draw with a lesser efficient head (or one which the arrow or head breaks). With an injury I see no sense in pushing yourself to draw more even if it feels okay. Not worth the risk of permanent injury.

    Mathews Triax @ 60lbs and Bowtech BT-X 28 @ 65lbs. Both do the job just fine. (I have the BT-X on the comfort draw cycle so it's easier to draw with more weight).

    70 now but I used to shoot 80 when I was younger. I also shoot "weak side" now due to eyes so that's part of it.
    I gotta say though, a 70# Bowtech on comfort setting feels like 60#. Or less. Butter.....................
