Evening all, Does anyone have a simple or interesting recipe for slow cooked venison? Thinking of doing something in the crock pot this week. I have plenty of beef recipes but curious if anyone has one for venison. Thanks in advance
My Favorite is Cream of Onion (small cans -2 , big can -1), Cream of Mushroom (Same), Carrots and Potatoes. A good seven hours, but I wait and put the carrots and potatoes in for only about 3 hours(I like them a little firm).
Good broth and lipton golden onion soup mix, just dump it on top of the roast let it simmer for 3-5 hours at 350 till it parts with a fork.
Apple cinnamon backstrap is the shizzle. (Link: https://momswithcrockpots.com/slow-cooker-venison-apple-roast/) Ingredients 1 tablespoon olive oil 3 pounds boneless venison roast 1 large apple cored and quartered** I use more, the apple is a nice sweet treat that mixes well*** 2 small onions sliced 4 cloves crushed garlic 1 cup boiling water 1 cube beef bouillon ***I add some cinnamon to this*** Instructions Spread the olive oil on the inside of a slow cooker. Place the venison roast inside, and cover with apple, onions, and garlic. Turn to Low, and cook until the roast is tender, about 6 to 8 hours. When the roast has cooked, remove it from the slow cooker, and place onto a serving platter. Discard the apple. Stir the water and bouillon into the slow cooker until the bouillon has dissolved. Serve this as a sauce with the roast. A badass wild rice roast: instructions suck, I had to write and think at the same time, obviously I can't do that. You may need to work out the fine details, but it's amazing. Meat: Vension w/your choice of sausage. I like mid-grade spicy pork sausage. Brown and drop in crockpot. Crock Pot Uncle Bens long 3 grain wild rice w/ seasoning packet & 4 cups water Half stick of butter 1 Cup vegetable broth or 1 can vegetable soup without noodles 1 Can Black Eyed Peas 1 Can Red Beans 1 Can Black Beans 4 Tablespoons Cayenne Pepper (to taste) ¼ cup Jalapeno slices chopped Cook - High 20min - Low 4 hours
Put a roast in the crock pot. One cup of Italian dressing and one cup of water. Cover and cook low for 8 hours. Shred and serve on buns. Don't think you can get any more simple than that. I've started experimenting with regular beef roast/pot roast recipes with good results. Think I'm going to try a sauerbrauten recipe this winter
Whatever you do make sure you braise the roast completely on all side before you put it anywhere near a crock pot
