Arrow weight

What weight arrows do you like shooting for hunting? I'm just getting back into bow hunting and looking for a good arrow for pass through performance. I'm shooting a Diamond Edge SB1 set at 65 pounds with a 28.5 draw length.

Im 65lb 30” draw shooting blackeagle renegade for bout 415-425 grains. Small diameter shaft arrow. Pass thu makes a big difference on broadhead. Muzzy trocar hb has a tough time goin all the way thru unless shot is right

I'm right at 550 currently out of an 80lb hyperforce. Pushing it up past 600 this year is the goal. High FOC setup.

 

Rule of thumb at 70 lbs pull 6 grains per pound = 420 grain arrow. The lower the lbs of pull the higher grains per pound. I think it was 8 grains per pound of pull at 60. I am at 70 lbs with a 420 grain arrow and this has been a great set up

 

I shooting a slightly faster set up, but same specs on weight and DL. I have shot from 384 to 480 over that past 6 years. I found my best performance at 408 with these Maxima RED. Lots of great options out there. I think anything around 400+ will take care of deer and smaller game.

 

I shoot at 62lb's and a 28" arrow at 448 grains.

 

I'm shooting piledriver pass thru extremes with a 100 gr HIT insert and a 125 gr hellrazor for a total arrow weight of roughly 550. Shooting 70lbs and 29" draw

I'm sitting at about 500 grains with a Black Eagle Spartan. I think the benefits of a heavier arrow setup greatly outweight the pros of a lighter arrow. Easton makes it easy now too, they sell FOC packs of some of their arrows that make it easy to achieve the heavier weight upfront.

 

I personally find that an arrow in the mid-400's is a pretty good balance of speed and weight/momentum. I'm personally shooting a 28" Black Eagle Rampage with a 50 grain brass HIT insert up front along with a 100 grain broadhead. Total finished arrow weight is 440 grains. I've shot this arrow the past several seasons and have passed clean through every deer I've shot with both fixed blade broadheads as well as mechanicals. I'm typically shooting either a 28.5" or 29" draw at 65-67 lbs and my arrow speed is typically 280-290 depending on the bow.

 

60lb with a 385-410 grain arrow seems to work well.

 

70lb pull, 28 inch draw, axis 340 with 50 grain brass insert and 100 grain montecs. Total arrow weight around 448 grains.

I'm right at 500 grains. Beman Bowhunter shaft, 100 grain brass insert, 100 grain broadhead.

Gold Tip Hunter Pro 300, 50 gr insert and 125 gr KuduPoint. 70# draw 29 1/2" . 500 gr total. Mostly elk hunting

 

I'm shooting 62lb and a 380 grain arrow. Fast and hits hard .

 

i'm shooting 70lb at 29". My arrow is approx. 400 grains. Probably a tad bit light. I am shooting Easton Axis 340s. I am considering going to 300s to add 1.2 GPI.

 

I'm shooting Easton fmj 300 spine total grain weight is 560. Shooting it out of a Mission Riot set at 70 pounds.

Mathews Halon 70lb. 29" Pushing arrows at 275fps.

 

Currently sitting at 495gr total weight with 13.5% FOC, 27.5" gold tip kinetic with 160gr up front.

 

Mine is gold tip xt hunter 300 spine. 28inch carbon to carbon. 100grain brass insert. Hundred grain g5 montec. Arrow comes in at around 484 grains. Bows at 62 lbs 28 inch draw.
