Shooting in a 5 spot league to get more reps in the winter and learning to get a routine when I shoot. And switching to a thumb release.

I like to sprint shoot once a week. I hope it helps cuz I hate running. I do have to say it helps

    *to avoid questions
Run hard until you are breathing tough and then shoot.

I switched from wrist release to a thumb release. It helped me with an issue I was having slapping the trigger.
Shooting at further distances really let me know some of my flaws as well.
I am still not a great shot but I am getting better because of these and just practice.

Definitely switching from a 3 or 5 pin sight to an adjustable 1 pin sight. It eliminated the pins "bunching together" and really allowed me to see my target past the pin

I shoot instinctive, so practice is a huge thing. I shoot out of stands for practice. I climb with 3 arrows and shoot, climb down and repeat until that distance is perfect. Then I move the target. What this does is elevate my heart and breathing, which mirrors some physical reactions to having a live deer in front of me. I can't control the physcical adrenalin release but I can learn to work through it.

I agree- practice. When I bought my son's bow several years ago, the couple shot 3-D tourneys. She shot a compound set at 32 lb. and shot at least a dozen arrows each day. FWIW, I have an indoor range of 10 meters (NASP distance) and shoot occasionally. Need to shoot more. Consistency is a key. A high school junior won a local fundraising tourney with 298 out of 300; won $100. I have seen him shoot before. He has the same routine for each shot! Watch pro golfers and you will see the same thing; Jack Nicklaus was notorious for this.
Berwickbuckmaster, what sight do you use now? Curious.
