Hey all, Just like it says, when do you change them? I don’t do any indoor winter shooting and will be getting new strings and cables on my bow this year. Curious if you all change them over the winter or spring/summer when the weather is better. Any reasons one is better than the other? Thanks and god bless. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Early-mid summer. After that, it seems the bow shops get piled up with people needing new strings and cables. Then you’ll be wanting to shoot before season comes in and your bow will be three weeks out.
Because I shoot all year, I like doing mine in early spring so it gives me the spring and summer to tune and work on form, etc.
I change in the spring. Shoot them during the off-season. Buy another set late summer and let them sit on the shelf as a backup. I bow hunt the entire season, so I like to have a spare on hand. String manufacturers and shops are too busy from Mid-September to January. If you don’t shoot during the spring and summer, I would recommend buying two sets in late summer. If you don’t bow hunt all season, it’s less risky. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If I change them, its spring time. I shoot a winter video league.. after that I usually take some time off before I start practicing again. During that time off is when I make any major changes to my bow.
I'm usually a June-July type guy when I change out my strings. I Get in before the archery shops are slammed in August.
When it needs changed? I just got a new string & cable on my bow, a Diamond Razor Edge, that I bought used. I have no idea how old the string on the bow was. It was getting "fuzzy", so I replaced had it replaced. If I had to guess, (and I do, since I didn't keep count) I'd say I only shot between 500 to 600 arrows from the time I got the bow to the string & cable change. I'm hoping the new "upgraded" string and cable will last longer. At call it $190, the daRn string and cable cost more than the bow ...
how often do you guys change your strings? do you change them yearly or do you change them by the amount of shots you all take through them?
Usually right after the first of the year when the bow shops are not so busy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
