I have a 2012 PSE Stinger that I accidentally nicked the other day. I was changing the draw length and the screw was not seated properly when I let the tension off it scraped against the limb leaving the mark seen in the picture above (it is less than a millimeter deep and maybe 1 cm in length). Is this dangerous to shoot with? I usually pull 60lb @ 30" and I have been shooting it without problem so far.
I would not shoot that bow either. Purchasing new limbs may be an inexpensive option. If you are interested in a replacement, I just bought a new bow and have a 2014 PSE Evo Max in great shape for less than a new Stinger. Just PM me if interested.
yeah, that's damaged, and in a bad spot too. Much deeper than cosmetic. Look at the splintering- I would order a new limb. That right there is why I don't do anything to my bow other than swap accessories. Just too much can go wrong. If the pro shop mucks it up it's on them.
Not a PSE shop. Closest one is about 1,000 kilometers in Alberta. I was thinking of just buying new limbs and having my shop fit them.
I It looks like no one really carrys them. Can I not fix this with a fiberglass patch kit? The damage is only what's visible, it doesn't extend beyond the outside surface (ie, no scrape on the inside of the limb facing the cam).
Well, I guess if I lived 1000 miles into Middle of Nowhere, Canada I'd probably be working on my own stuff more often. check with PSE customer service. They may be able to ship them directly to your shop. I'm not saying you couldn't fix it with fiberglass repair kit but I sure wouldn't want to take the risk.
If you do choose to not listen and fix it then please please video subsequent failures. It sucks man, i get it. I hate having to drop money on my mistakes as well. But the stress of your rig is all right there. Good luck
I wouldn't try to patch that, and I wouldn't trust it either! Maybe Trophy Book Archery in Spruce Grove, Alberta could get your new limbs? That's where Wayne Zaft goes.
