I can not imagine what an all day sit in a camera stand would be like.

Had to look at facebook. Here's his 3 kills this year. Guessing the final one was the one mentioned in OP. Had to see what the hype was about.

You have no clue about the subject, and yet, you felt compelled to come in with an arrogant attitude and ended up sounding like a dolt.

I don't think there is a single hunter on this site that has any jealousy over a guy that has been pinched for poaching and violated the Lacey Act, and then violated probation on game violations, and then was arrested for destroying evidence. But, he does have some sack-riders for sure.

Ha! He would have had to score the "little" one for the contest and only get 50 points for the next one.

I can only imagine the conversation that team 27 is having now about how to get him on their team for next year.

I dunno. I mean, I don't compare myself with Spann or anybody else. He can't ruin it for me. His actions have no bearing on my enjoyment of the woods whatsoever.

If I find a 200"+ free range deer and can make 10k or more by letting someone else kill it....SOLD!!! I'll be more than happy settling for a buck in the 150's and a fat pocket, lol. Finding mature bucks is the hard part, killing them once found is easy.

200+" deer go for a heck of a lot more than $10K. On most fence operations $10K gets you more like a 160-180 class buck. The class of buck in those pics goes for more like $20K + so ya know...if you are going to go find a 220"+ buck to sell, don't shortchange yourself, lol.

That's going to be a hard pass from team 27. If it's not broke, don't try to fix it, especially with a guy with a fitness program. The dad bod's worked just fine.

Fletch are you increasing your jealousy foot print to now include spann , booner and now the entire team of champions?
Gheez not sure if I should be warm and fuzzy.
Fyi team 27 are all super fit and walk to the stand with a gayass theme song...."eyes of a eagle, nose of a buck" and all recorded points were deer shot over fence lines. Sooooo I guess I get it.

He’d probably dropkick a puppy to kill another 200.

    Apparently! lol.

Don't forget my infatuations with Bill Busbice and Chris Brackett. I'm super jealous of those guys too. They are almost as amazing as Jimmy Houston.

Sorry that wasn't my point and didn't explain. I'm with you. I don't care, because I understand what the vast majority of these "celebs" are doing on their farms to grow and kill these deer on camera. Not saying I wouldn't jump on the opportunity myself. But, my real point is that this money game is fooling a great many young hunters or hunters that don't closely follow what is going on behind the scenes. States have a very big interest in having big bucks killed because it sells tags the following year.

You look at Iowa. From my understanding the Drury's pretty much run the deer management program there. Can't imagine the Lakosky's and Kisky's don't have a say either.

Lets just say that some of them get by with way more than the average guy can. The abuse of landowner tags is what triggers me the most. There have been a lot of wealthy guys that have spent stupid amount of money fighting Iowa to get landowner tags and lost because they don't meet ALL requirements. And yet, some of these "celebrities" are filling two and three tags every year as residents while their families live and go to school in other states where they truly spend the majority of their time. They claim a local house as their primary residence while their wives and kids live in mansions in other states. They are blatantly violating the law, but the state is getting a lot of publicity and seems to look the other way. Their neighbors keep close tabs on them and know when they are around and I can guarantee you that it is not enough to fulfill the residency requirements.

But, to my original point, even these guys that have huge tracts of the best whitetail land in the world locked up, are not consistently killing 200" bucks. They are killing a lot of 180's and 190's, but the next level is honestly just a freak of nature.

I agree with you that the TV shows can create unrealistic expectations. Thanks for clarifying!

I totally agree. Many just don't understand how difficult it is for a deer to grow to even 170", let alone 200" or more. Even in state like Iowa. I hunt in extreme northern MO every year and have seen some impressive bucks over the years, but I don't know if any of them would eclipse the 170 mark.

As I said about Spook, I'd be willing to bet the money he shells out or someone is for that matter, to have these caliber of bucks located is probably unreal.

I'm happy to see a 120 inch buck! Makes my day and I guess it makes my hunting life a little less stressful.

A tag on public land as a resident. A chip and a chair at the table of buck poker.
