I am looking for some input on heated vest/light jacket to cut down on at least a couple layers of clothing for bow hunting. I am leaning towards a vest but am open to anything. What brands are people using, pros, cons anything will be helpful! Thanks in advance.

I got a Milwaukee heated jacket for Christmas and the one time it has been actually warm enough to wear it, was great. Good battery life and warm warm warm. I just am not sure the best way you could layer with it for archery hunting.

I also have a Milwaukee heated jacket and it works great. If you are looking for heated layers though, I would get a heated hoodie. They sell them on Amazon.

I also have the Milwaukee jacket. It's a touch bulky but over all awesome, and if you(like i) were wearing many shirts, many sweatshirts, and then a winter jacket by Dec ...its a huge improvement.

I have a DeWalt jacket that is Carhartt material. It works great keeping me warm but is a bit bulky. I ended up using it in rifle w/ a tshirt under it and a white camo sweatshirt over it. It really helps fight off the cold and my battery lasts about 3 hrs. Bought a couple more batteries for Christmas. Can't wait to try it second season in PA.

Thanks for the responses so far. I might check out the Milwaukee jackets and vests. I don’t gun hunt at all so that’s why I’m trying to shed layers (mostly in the late season) to keep my arms a little more mobile and less restricted.

Might sound silly but try cutting sleeves off of sweatshirts too. My arms don't get cold or lose much of my heat so I took a few heavy sweatshirts( not the paper thin $hit they sell as sweatshirts now) and cut off the left sleeve. ...its a great poor man option.

This is why I really like vests.

I have the Milwaukee vest. It works great. I bought the larger batteries and have been very satisfied with the heat and battery life. Vest works great as a mid-layer. Very low bulk. I even bought one for my wife for hunting and skiing. Money well spent.

I have the Milwaukee heated jacket and the warming coils are only in the chest and back anyway, so the vest would be just as good of an option if you are wanting to cut bulk. I have sat with mine on in a blind in the 30s with just the jacket and a light base layer and have been comfortable.

You can check some brands: Ororo, Arris, Milwaukee. All of their batteries can last 6 - 8 hours, you can purchase one more for backup or lengthen your trip.

Glad I read this I am going to pick up a vest rather than a hoodie. The only thing about the vest is that it will go over my bibs vs the hoodie that would be on the inside of the bibs.

Another question do you wash the stuff like regular hunting clothing?

The vest should be a mid layer as it is not wind blocking.

You can add heating to any vest that you already might have. You can use safety pins to attach hand warmers to the inside of your vest. make sure you have one down by your kidneys and around the top of your chest. They usually last about 8 hours or so.

I have a Milwaukee jacket and it works but the hand warmers seems to work better for me.

Honestly though better layers will help with the bulk. Thin merino wool or poly pro near skin, thicker merino wool or fleece for insulation and a out wind blocking layer. Also be sure to cover your head and neck really well, you wouldn't believe how much of a difference that makes.

I went with the Milwaukee hoody. They had it in my size that was the selling point I did not want the jacket. It will get a test going to be a cold weekend.

I love it and it is a game changer. When ever I get cold my back and hips tighten up like a cramp. The hoodie is like wearing a heating pad from your shoulders to your hips.
