I must be old and pathetically soft. I got what may be my most cherished Christmas gift and it made me cry a little. My Grandma who all us kids called Honey was a wonderful cook and we all had our favorites that she would make. She has been gone for 15 years. My little sister and her husband took all of her recipes and put them in a book with pictures of her mixed in with the recipes. So happy to have those heirloom recipes. Can't wait to make her potato dumplings with a nice venison roast.
My wife, who is not only intelligent and beautiful but also very astute. She noticed me having an ongoing disagreement/ discussion with the P&Y president this past week. In any event she thought this would he a great last minute gift from her and the kids.
I have mastered her mindset all my own original recipes start like her's with bacon and butter. What you say is very true I have not attempted her dumplings but those that have tried have failed.
I got mine way early a few weeks ago. I got a Playstation 4 and the Red Dead Redemption 2 game. That was really the only thing I wanted, been refusing to buy a PS4 for years. I just kept playing my old Ps3 games...couldn't resist RDR2 though. I also got a Milwaukee drill and driver set with batteries and charger. It's super nice. 54F here today...my Christmas gift to myself was playing fetch and catch with my Weim for an hour or so while it's nice and pretty out, lol.
We got something similar from my aunt. She took recipes from my great grandmas cook book (all in her hand writing) and I think screen printed them on some white clothes. My fiancé is going to frame a few and put them in the kitchen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
As far as other gifts go , I got some really useful things that I can’t wait to use.I got a new alps NWTF turkey vest, clay pigeon thrower, and some ice fishing stuff like another tip up and a new thermos. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We don’t do many gifts anymore. My girlfriend and I told each other that if we want something we should just buy it. I got myself a pair of Vortex 10x42 binos on cyber MOnday for less than $150. Going on an ice fishing trip for the next 4 days to Lake of the woods. Will be buying myself some new gear. My mom did get me some hot sauce (I love everything hot and hot sauce has become an addiction of mine). Also got me some ice cleats and a $50 Scheels gift card. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Kinda how my fiancé and I do it as well. We get the things we want throughout the year already. Besides one thing I did get her because she didn’t want to spend the money on it but she’s been talking about it since the summer. I got her one of those circut printers. And I’m honesty impressed with it. lol I’ll be making decals with it. We got her brother a new beaver dam tip and added his nick name and a fish decal to it. It looks awesome. I got this rooster for Christmas, does that count? Best gift for my dog and I. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
I got a half dozen Black Eagle Renegades, a 9” inch Trophy Ridge Stabilizer, $50 Bass Pro gift card, a few books and clothes. I was pleasantly surprised to also be given a lot of money. I guess I didn’t ask for enough actual gifts. I may be using it to buy myself a saddle hunting set up. I have been thinking about going to that for a couple of years now. Although, my older boys got rollerblades, and that has me thinking about getting some for myself. Not sure there would be emough left for the saddle set up if I do that. I'm a confessed bah- humbug type guy. I don't buy nor WANT a gift for / from anyone. I do things for MANY people every year out of pure kindness. Gifts are a man- made thing as in a " tradition". I prefer to skip that part. The only gift I bought this year was 2 fishing rods and tackle kit for 2 young 8 year old boys that got adopted by a husband n wife. The boys are supposed to be from drug parents and the new parents are GREAT people and made a huge decision to adopt them. They live very frugile but them 2 boys are super kids, the like of which are very rare nowdays. I think most people have forgot the true meaning of Christmas.
I got to be home with my wife and kidlets! Christmas has fallen on my weekend to work for the last 3 years, and I finally got to spend Christmas at home! Doesn't seem like much, but it was the best...
Got some more casings and seasonings to make summer sausage. Then I ordered myself a Lem sausage stuffer and some more high temp cheese. Gonna make me a batch of the good stuff this weekend. My son got a Nintendo Switch from "Santa" so I may borrow it from time to time and play some Mario Kart.
my wife home for Christmas and a Government shut down. Also a new pair of Oakley shades and a Samsung smart watch which is waaay smarter than I.
