Went out around 1pm and sat until dark 5.45pm. Had the same does and little bucks filter through. Not going back out until Saturday. Nice afternoon weather wise, sunny and a light north breeze. Really digging this new stand location. I always avoided the area bc it's right on the fence/property line but I know the guys leasing the place to the south and they dont mind. However, it is getting to that part of the season that if they have survived until now.. might just let them grow another year.

had a cool encounter at about 950EST. Over 25 deer came parading in a line, one after the other over several finger ridges from my left to my right at about 80 yards at the closest point, then pulled a big semi-circle and ended up 180* behind me. I scoped every deer in the parade at least 2-3 times and not one had a single inch of bone on top of their heads. Incredible. I've seen that many does/antlerless piled into a field before, but never that many in the woods.

That was it for my morning, and my gun season.

Back to late archery. Seen deer in the fields feeding this morning. In the stand where I got my buck during shotgun. Not looking promising no tracks on the way in. 20 degrees and minimal wind. Hunting until 930. Good luck to all the diehards that are still at it.

Saw some city deer dropping my kid off at school. 19 degrees here and they were up on their feet moving along a draw basically behind a neighborhood. Pretty nice buck with 3 does. Gotta work today folks. Good luck to anybody out.

I was hoping nobody would notice, not my proudest buck, lol. But he'll eat good. Funny thing is I passed on two that were bigger than him. Worst ground shrinkage I've had since I was a teenager!

Tougher and tougher to be optimistic. Out on a lovely evening hunt. Hoping the cold weather makes the big boys' stomachs growl. 37 minutes of light.
