Realized I'd been MIA for a little bit. Shot a 2 year old buck during rifle opener here in mom few weeks ago. Hoping to get out this weekend with the cold front/snow coming in! Hope everyone is doing well! Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Well was going to sit out for the last day of WI "holiday hunt"...neighbors decided to burn their brush piles today which is right at the property line. Too close....sigh...oh well, back to stick & string to get one more for the freezer! Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
Went out this weekend for my last hunt more than likely and the bad luck continued on. Had a doe walk into range around 930. Took a 30 yard shot and had my arrow deflect down right before hitting the doe. At this point I feel like I completely missed because the doe ran about 10 yards then stopped. After a couple min she slowly walked away. I got down for my arrow and found a bunch of hair and some blood. Tracked for around 3 hours then the blood stopped. I am hoping a grazed her front brisket and all the blood was just a flesh wound. One of my hardest seasons yet but learned a lot. Congrats to everyone else.
I was able to harvest a doe last night with my smoke pole. No luck yet with the bow, but meat in the freezer nonetheless. Sent from my SM-G950U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Well guys, the season continues. Shot a doe tonight with my bow at 41 yards. Shot looked good to me. Tracked decent blood for about 300 yards and lost her as she turned into a thicket bedding area. Going back in the morning to look for her. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Looks for a couple hours. Didn't find any more blood or the deer. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Season is set to close in a week here in VA. I am hoping to hunt on closing day which is next Saturday after not having hunted for 6 weeks.
The fat lady isn't singing yet but she's started warming up! I'll be out of town the last few days of the season so I'm done.
