    Ok, we all get sick of watching " hunting shows" because it very little hunting and a whole lot of " endorsement,".
    What are some that stand out that were so heavy endorsosed that are no longer seen on t.v.?
    Drury had the Tree Coy.
    Nugent had the piss in the thing and the Glen,s deer handle.
    Endless different broadheads that were supposed to....

    Let's recap and bring back some of the latest n greatest things to make us better hunters that probably made someone a pile of money but are no longer heard of.

    I can't think of anything specific right this moment, but it does get unbearable sickening to watch a guy sit and absolutely pinwheel a 180"+ buck and then their first words are, "Ozonics Baby!".
    Who the hell has nothing better to say than "Ozonics!" after shooting a deer with a jungle gym of points on the top of its head.

    I try to watch the ones that keep it more lowkey in terms of endorsement (ie. Steven Rinella, Midwest Whitetail and a select few others). There are a lot of ones that start out okay in this regard and go steadily downhill as they grow in popularity. I get it, its a business. But it sucks for the common viewer. As much as I really do like the BHOD show, I do see it going down this same road - which is unfortunate.

    One of my all time favorites was the deer view mirror. Essentially it was a review mirror from a car that had an adjustable arm on it. It could be mounted on a limb so you could see what was behind you.........I guess!

    This years Mathews bow... lol. Seriously, seems most of the shows, you hear about it later that they shot it with next years Mathews offering. Its all kept super secret, etc.

    I have not watched a hunting show or purchased a magazine in a long time so I have not seen the recent offerings but let me guess footage of a guy riding in the truck, then climbing up, then music, whispering to the camera man, taking the shot then the catch phrase, then cut to review the video to check the shot, then the recovery.

    Here's another "gem" from days gone by. The Game Tracker. It screwed into your stabilizer and had a spool of twine that attached to your arrow. When you shot a deer and it ran off, you could just follow the thread to your kill. I actually saw this device used on a few hunting shows. If I'm not mistaken, the Game Tracker company may have been the forerunner to Carbon Express. I'm not completely sure of this. At one point they also made a serrated broadhead.

    C'meer Deer. The fawn distress bleat, it honestly works at the right time of year but you never see a celebrity using one.

    Other hunting shows is what brought me to BHOD. @Shane0709 is right, some TV hunter shoots a big buck and instead being genuinely excited it's a stream of product endorsements. To me, it's a total lack in skills as a hunter and a big thank you to all the crutches said hunter needed to make the kill. I am to the point that if a celebrity hunter endorses something I am not going to buy it. And for the record, I get that a show has to have sponsors in order to sustain but good god some of them are absolutely atrocious in the frequency in which they endorse them. It's like Ricky Bobby the hunter..

    The only thing worse than the shows is when you meet a guy that buys all that crap hook line and sinker. Watching hunting shows to learn to hunt is like watching porn for sex education. Just to clarify my comments I am talking about TV hunters not internet programming like BHOD, I have watched a few episodes of BHOD and I did not hate them.

    I agree with all of this except the Midwest Whitetail part. I feel like they’ve gone super incorporated, always pushing companies.

    I personally feel like BHOD does a really good job of promoting their partners without being annoying about it. They are also partnered with solid companies, many of which I would use regardless of being a fan of the show.

    I think this is a good discussion. As someone that is involved with a show, there's a fine line you have to walk to make everyone happy. Merely producing a quality show is not enough to get sponsorship dollars that allow your show to be aired . I'm guessing 99% of those that watch hunting shows have no idea the costs to produce and air those shows. Without sponsorships, those shows simply wouldn't exist. So, you have to strike a balance between helping your partners promote their products and not turning your show into an infomercial. The companies are just like every other business out there, they are looking to get the biggest bang out of their marketing budget. I wish I knew what the secret formula was for producing a show that made everyone happy and paid the bills at the same time.

    So, what's your acceptable level of product promotion? Product Placement in shots? Testimonials? Commercials? Verbal Mentions?

    I personally don't have to much of problem with shows advertising products. I know the bills have to be paid. My issue would be when the hunter says with certainty, "I absolutely know I wouldn't have killed this buck without this product." For me that's always over the top. If someone uses a product I want to know why they use it, other than that company being a sponsor.

    To be honest, I would rather not watch a hunting show if 50% of the content is product promotion. I have a hard time watching most cable hunting TV.

    Yeah, I agree with that for sure. Nothing more annoying than sitting behind a deer and saying there's no way I could have killed this deer without X. I also can't stand "smoked him" when you clearly made a bad shot. Honestly, can't stand "smoked him" even if you made a great shot. Haha

    Midwest whitetail.

    Climb up into a Redneck blind, mount the Ozonics machine, and hunt a field with X product.

    Has to be the most boring hunting show on earth.

    I don’t watch a single one. I stopped about three years ago watching anything hunting related on TV or the Internet. I could careless how much it costs to get a show aired on tv, or on the interweb.

    My hunting entertainment is the “live from the stand thread” those are the only ones I care about. I could care less about any hunting show “personality” shooting the hit lister buck Tommy 12 tines.

    have to agree here. I used to really like MW b/c there wasn't any antics and while the product placement was prominent it wasn't too obnoxious. But I just can only watch Bill take 40 yard shots at 140" 10 points over a cut corn or "big and beasty" field out of a weather protected mini barn so many times.

    So to keep it with the theme, I guess I'll go with Rocket broadheads. Now that MW switched to Wasp I don't know of anyone using them either personally or on TV.
