WHO: I'm in WHAT: long weekend hunt/g2g/beer consuming WHEN: Early October 3-4 days WHERE: Missouri. OOPS ok Ohio!!! Where are you coming from: Southern Louisiana
I would be willing to let someone come hunt my private land in North Dakota for a long weekend with me if there’s anyone willing to pitch in for gas along the way.. just a thought
Lake Alma state park has good camping facilities that's over by Vinton county there's plenty of land around the area; Vinton county wildlife, Cooper hollow, Zaleski and there's even land at the campground that is bow only I've done a couple week long hunts there always saw deer got one every year except last year because I was trying to get turkey and focused too much on that. But I'm in wherever in Oh might even bring my boy Sent from my Pixel 2 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
lucky you. As all Michiganders know: I kid, I kid. Sort of. Word of caution for those who drive- Ohio State Troopers are ruthless. Literally seen them park on one side of the highway turnaround and lay on the ground with radar gun in hand Swamp Stalker-style.
Yeah lake alma is literally about 8 minutes from me. If you look at the public map like half the county is public land lol Mathews Halon Black Eagle outlaws Magnus Buzzcut 4 blades Nasty combo
This Lake Alma state park looks interesting for a couple of reasons. First of all there are two other state properties nearby, Richland Furnace state forest and Vinton Furnace state forest. And there doesn't appear to be any large cities nearby. Blessings..........Pastorjim
I like VS's proposal. Going off the map he linked, this general area has a lot of options in 3 states. I also like no nearby big cities
Options are good and I like the idea of multi state hunts if you can afford all the OOS tags (again, options). Sounds like a good many folks are planning to go, so spreading out will be a nessecity. I like it. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
This is my stomping grounds If you guys decide on here. Anyone that has seen the live from the stand may have heard about a monster 8 point I was after he was on vinton furnace. My cousin shot a decent 10 there this year in October. And my brother in-law got a decent 8. Mathews Halon Black Eagle outlaws Magnus Buzzcut 4 blades Nasty combo
heres the brother in-laws buck. I put him on this deer after I rattled him in a couple times. Was a really cool experience and he was super pumped. The pressure in October is almost non existent to boot. Mathews Halon Black Eagle outlaws Magnus Buzzcut 4 blades Nasty combo
Ugh, such a far drive lol Who wants to hunt WI public land? They have a first time buyer program. Only $80 for archery license. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Haha I'd love to but Wisconsin is even farther for me and wouldnt work for a long weekend Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
Yeah it ain't a short trip for me neither, but I'd love to go. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
If you guys do decide on here I’d be more than happy to help anyone with scouting. Zaleski state forest also offers a lot. I’ve only hunted it a few time but always saw deer and sign was always easy to find. There’s also hogs here and there in there (my uncle got into those last year pretty heavy there) cooper hollow is another option. This is where I killed a buck in 2013. (Profile picture) Lots of land and big deer killed there every year. I personally haven’t hunted it much either. Also a track of land called broken aro. That’s maybe 8 miles from alma. I have only coyote hunted it but also loaded with deer. Like I said options are endless and willing to help anyone with navigation and scouting if it’s gonna be around here.
