I'm in the stand right now and it is foggy. Wondering what y'all's opinion is with hunting in the fog. Sent from my Z971 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Its a really good time to be between a bedding area and food source. They tend to not move a lot in the fog but when the fog begins to lift they will get moving. This gets them on their feet later in the morning were sometimes they already have moved by daylight.
I shot the #2 buck of my life in super thick fog; then on my way back to camp to get the cart I saw literally the biggest whitetail I've ever seen (not counting forest preserves where you can't hunt) on the hoof chase a doe across the road in the same fog. This was a BC-class buck on MI public land. They wait until it gets light and then they get up on their feet. Or at least they do in the rut.
I literally never see anything in the fog lol but if it does lift while I’m out there I better hold on tight. Seems like every time it clears it’s on fire. Mathews Halon Black Eagle outlaws Magnus Buzzcut 4 blades Nasty combo
to be more specific; on the day I referenced the fog was just starting to lift a little. Visibility was about 50-70 yards whereas pre-dawn it was less than 5 yards.
The first buck I ever called in was in the thick fog. First weekend of November and I had a decoy out. He came in and as soon as the fog lifted he circled that decoy like it was his job. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
