The islands we hunt there is actually a population that live there and swim back to high ground when it floods. We know this because of cameras we’ve left there year round. We also can tell when the deer population there increases exponentially which is around October 15th or so. 2 weeks after the hunting pressure starts. I know bucks cruise over when the heat is on looking for a little love too. I would definitely check that place out in your pic. I bet you find good sign

Well my neighbor fed me some of his ridiculous craft beers last night and I woke late, said screw it, helped the wife with an awesome Thanksgiving feast, ate like I was fattening, and had a great day without hitting the woods. Happy Thanksgiving folks. Supposed to rain here all dang day tomorrow. I'll go try to sit as long as i can. So full...

Well guys, I'm tired and I'm taking a break. Actually I decided that with two deer in the freezer, one in the fridge awaiting processing, being tired and nothing moving here I said "screw it" at 7:45 this morning, got down, built a fire in the camp fire pit at our new place and relaxed the rest of the day.

I'm probably not going to hunt again until maybe Sunday or Monday.

Honestly not sure. I just put a camera back out but not sure what they're doing here. Probably not a bad idea with the moon tho. Hell idk. I'm super helpful I know. Lol

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. This am I took the pup out and bagged two pheasants. Came home and cut up a deer, made some pumpkin pie, and got the turkey ready. I have one antlerless mule deer tag left for the hunting district on the other side of the river. Last Sunday I kayaked across the river and filled my antlerless whitetail tag on a 3 acre sliver of WMA on the east bank. Getting back was a challenge to say the least. Took my boy out for the last two hours of shooting light today and then came home to an awesome dinner with the family. It was an awesome day, and I feel extremely blessed to live in this Country. Good luck in the am. I'm going to take one last Crack at a cow elk tomorrow. Season ends Sunday here, except for some late elk hunts for antlerless elk on private lands only.
