I’ll be out this weekend. I’m all caught up on the honey do list and ready to hunt again! I gotta get some more cameras out they’re not working for me sitting in the backseat of the truck.

Ya we are getting hammered. I got about 8" last night. It stopped most of today but around 3pm it started again. Another 5" fell already and were expecting another 5 tonight. Solid foot and a half of snow in 24 hours ...

I have an out of state Oklahoma rifle hunt coming up this weekend. It will my first hunt outside Arkansas. I should hit it hard again on my buddy's place that I just got permission to hunt after rifle season. He took a nice 10 pt opening morning.

Well an update for you guys. This is the latest I've ever been in the season since moving to IL without having a chance on a good deer. It's not for a lack of trying though, I've got around 80 hours in a stand, and have had great bucks walk in front of the stand I didn't choose a bunch of times this year. It's a game of odds, and I'm sure something will tip in my favor at some point, I just need to keep after it.

My wife and kids are headed out of town tomorrow and I'll have a ton of time to hunt over the next week or so. We have great weather forecasted and the deer are still out there, so hopefully I'll have one down shortly.

Good luck Rick. Just a matter of time.
Had a spike and come in tonight. I passed and the big 8 and Fergie 6 were there since dark

Passed on a doe first light and just passed the fergie 6 that should up last night. And I usually don’t pass on anything legal around here. Lol

Western your seeing deer almost every sit. That's amazing. A lot of deer on your property.

We may have big deer up here. But your lucky to see a deer every few sits. I'll go seasons with 30+ sits and see like 3 deer. It's all big woods and not as much ag. So i I can have deer 80 yards away and have no idea .

This is not very typical for this area Chago. I usually only see 2-3 bucks of any size in a season in mass if I’m lucky. Couldn’t hunt tonight and no hunting mass Sunday’s. I’ll be out mon and tues afternoon for sure

I will be out with my bow this Wednesday Morning, Thursday Morning, Friday morning and afternoon, Saturday and Sunday Morning and Afternoon since my wife and kids will be out of town also.

My shotgun season was shot and good. I shot a doe on Friday morning after passing up a nice future stud 9 point buck and then went out Friday night and shot a nice 8 point buck. I did the buck a favor since he was shot in the face and in the front of his right leg. I had a spike and button buck come in and then the button buck walked over to the creek and was looking on the other side. I did not see anything. Then the spike walked over also and his hair went up on his back. I started looking really close and then I saw the buck but only saw one side of his rack since he was in a lot of cover. The bucks body was big so I knew he was a nice deer and seeing his G3's being nice I decided to shoot him. The buck was behind my tree so I got set to catch him in an opening to my right. He would not move and then started to step backwards so I was thinking he was getting ready to run south (left) on me. I swung the gun around to the other side of the tree put the cross hairs on his body and let the led fly. He then ran right about 40 to 50 yards and then fell over. After that I went to get some ice to put on the meat in my cooler and then I saw a nice little critter but it could of became a stinky situation. He was out in the field looking for worms and did not care about me being there until I started to squeak at him. After that he went back to looking for food. Here are the pictures from the day:
