Good luck fellas. I'm going through a bowhunting withdrawal. So here I sit, shooting arrows before work. Lol

    Make it happen today.

Yes, but with a different brand stand. And if on public I lock the top and bottom sections. But hauling the ladder sections in and out deep isn't fun either. I find it easier to do on private where I can access with a truck or quad, and then I might as well do a ladder stand so I go back and forth on what is best.

No, but I have packed in my stand and sticks using a real backpack...the belt & frame makes a big difference in load carrying. Even getting a set of molle straps for a hanger makes a hike more tolerable.

In for an evening sit back over a public land bedding area where i had great movement on Monday. Hoping the big 6 I saw gives me another chance.

I bought a surplus MOLLE system for packing mine. Big improvements over using the straps that came with it.

So my season of firsts continues.... first coyote... first buck with my new PSE ... first doe with my new PSE ... and now my first deer taken on a dead run.

After our morning sit, the boys did a few mini drives to each other and we could have all taken deer but they were young and we all passed.
So it’s about 11:20 and we do our annual scrub island push...

Sal, David and I were posted up around this 4ish acre scrub island in the middle of a huge field... Adam was pushing through the middle of this nasty thick area, hoping to push anything out to one of us.

We could all see each other and it didn’t take long before a doe busted out of the brush and safely to the woods 300 yards or so away. About 5 minutes pass (or at least it felt like it) and I can hear crunching in the island brush all the way where I was ... Adam yells something... I see a buck bust out like he was shot from a cannon ....

I take a deep breath as I get him in the scope and establish lead distance .... he is 80 yards out on a dead run... POW ... he rolls over and lays there ... where did I hit him? How big is he? Did I really just drill one one a dead run?

I yell out to the boys, “Did you just see that!?!?” David yells back, “That was awesome!!”

I walk up to the buck and see he is a year and a half old, one that I wouldn’t have shot if he walked by my stand... but there was no doubt I was going to try to take him in the above scenario... the camaraderie of gun hunting is one of, if not the only reason I still use a gun...
It was a head shot... he flipped and died instantly... lucky, you bet it was ... but I’ll take it

Anyway, I love my 5 pointer and he will yield some excellent table fare. Thanks to Sal, David, and Adam for the fun morning!!! You guys are the best!! Tate, we all missed you bad today and can’t wait for you to get you out there again!

    Copied from FB...good luck everyone!!

Well fellas after a week, I'm back in the stand. Took vacation Monday-Wednesday. I'm in the stand now and will be hunting through Wednesday night. I am ready to lay one down! It's been a tough season for me so far!
