I just returned from my annual trip to northern Missouri and had success. Saw plenty of bucks, but everyone in camp had the same feeling, the big boys weren't on their feet a great deal. That all changed the last 4 days of the hunt. I saw a hammer of a 10 at first light on November 6. I saw several other smaller bucks cruising and chasing does throughout the day. Then at last light, this guy showed up. I honestly glassed him for a minute while he hit a scrape in from of me, trying to decide if I wanted to take him or not. I made the decision that if he came into my preferred shooting lane, I would. Easy 20 yard shot and he made it 75 yards before expiring from a heart shot. I was really happy with this buck all in all. I had an ordeal last year where I lost a good deer out there (still no idea what happened). It honestly took me a bit to get back in the saddle so speak as my confidence was shaken. This buck was a bit of redemption so to speak. Certainly not the biggest deer I've taken out there, but I'm darn proud of this one.

Congrats! I was up there for the orange army opener. Several does and fawns but only one buck.

Sometimes those redemption shots are more meaningful than shooting a bigger buck. Congrats man.

Thanks bud. Yes, this deer was bittersweet and a relief. Its crazy how confidence works when bowhunting. Its almost like I felt like I forgot how to shoot a deer once I got one in range! Least thats what my mind was saying.
