A buddy of mine who has been out quite a bit has seen quite a few young bucks chasing. I figure it should really heat up in the next 7-10 days. Season ends Nov 12th though. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
sorry bud, not me. I was on that deer last Saturday. Troy hunted the same stand on Thursday and killed him. Beautiful deer. Happy for him. I've got a few other dandies I'll hopefully connect with before the season is over
Headed out this afternoon to see what cards may fall. Hunting pretty close to bedding 100-150yds, Hoping this high pressure gets them on their feet and cruising. Still only looking for shooter bucks. Lets hope I get lucky!
Well boys my rutcation starts tomorrow I’ll probably just get set up at the campground and do some scouting for sign tomorrow. I’ll be down there until Thursday afternoon. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
After weeks of meetings and managing my scout troop and my sisters wedding (who gets married in October) I will finally be sitting in a tree tonight. sitting this stand for the first time this year so hopefully luck will be on my side. Good luck to our teammates as we jump into the best part of the year here in the Midwest!
Was 30yds away from a buck on Monday afternoon, but no shot with the trees. Hunted from the ground on Friday afternoon and got busted two different times directly from behind as I was set up on a rub line. Aaaahhhhh! Hoping the rut continues into this weekend as I am taking Friday off and hunting all day. Hoping to have something to show for my efforts soon.
Well things have heated up here in Kansas!!! Plenty of mature deer have fallen in the last week! I start my 10 day rutcation on Sunday!!! Pulled cards Monday before I went back to work and finally have some deer to chase!!! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Pennsylvania buck tag filled this afternoon at 1:25 pm. 8 point came in chasing a doe and I shot him at 10 yards, he piled up 60 yards away. I passed up a smaller 8 point and a 7 point this morning.
Well, this year is becoming comical. Still looking for my first deer of the year (buck or doe) to fill up the freezer. Had a doe last night at 30 yds moving toward my shooting lane where she would have been at 25. All of a sudden she stops right before the tree where I would have drawn on her and starts looking around, then noticing me on my tree 25 ft up. Stays there for five minutes before taking off. All I needed was 2 more steps!!!! I guess this is how is goes with a bow...
Well fellas, my rutcation is coming to an end and I don't know if anyone remembers my original post about trying to leave my main spot alone or not, but I can tell you for certain that my plan didn't work. I've hunted pretty hard over the last 10 days and I saw exactly 4 deer while on stand. Only one inside of 50 yards and that was a button buck. I don't know what happened to all of the deer that usually run around this section of timber. It's like wolves have moved in and chased everything away, I know this isn't the case as I'm in northern Illinois. I'm at a loss but I'm certainly moving on from the grove. New spot tomorrow morning, with any luck maybe I'll be able to contribute more than sob stories to the team.
That’s how I feel about my spot to be honest, for the last two years I have had deer under my stand literally 24/7, it was a slow hunt if I had just 1 or 2 come by. But so far this year I’ve had only one fork in range. The main food source was pretty dry this year(apples). I think if I had scouted more this year instead of just relying on the way things have been before, I would have been able to adapt and I would be seeing way more deer. Oh well lesson learned! Season ends on Monday. I don’t get another chance with a bow until after Christmas. But i will still be out there, trying to put points on the board this weekend! My Kansas trip is in the books with no dead deer. It was a really slow hunt, movement never picked up
