Live from the freezer. He's home, but has a date with the taxidermist on Friday. I still can't believe I got him! 20181107_171803.jpg

I'm in the same boat tc. The new place I'm at isn't panning out either. Back to the old faithfuls.
    Good Luck brotha!

I missed...buck I've been after fir 2 yrs. He was in a bline straight to me and just stopped. Next thing I know he lays his ears back and takes a hard right. I look over and see a smaller buck that he is going to whoop. I held the 40 yd pin rt on him and shot over his back. He was downhill and more like 35. Didn't spooked to bad but...

Saw a lot of deer tonight. Going to sleep in tomorrow and give my back a little break...and shoot for a while to get confidence back up.

Phone rang right as I hit post reply.

Said he followed good blood for about 100 yds, found a few places where it was pooled up. Said when he shot him his tail tucked and he hunched up.

Told him that is usually a paunch shot reaction. With it bleeding so much hopefully liver.

Said he was damn near broadside.

Where he messed up was when the buck got into a cut corn field. He was using a flashlight and blood was getting thin. He decided to get on his cart and start driving all around the field looking for him. Said he'll go back in the morning.

Not liking the chances given the story.

Well, my phone battery gave out and I couldn't update.

I didn't see a deer but this is my year for seeing rare animals.

Just before last light I saw a black bear. They are pretty rare in Carter county, MO.

It's the first bear I've ever seen and I'm actually phobic when it comes to bears.

    The walk out was interesting.

Ugh, mid 20's in the morning. Gonna pile up the hand warmers for the first time. Used toe warmers this morning, will be using both tomorrow.

Time to stare the clock into submission.
