I didn't see your spike comment after the 8pt. You guys posted at exact same time and exact distance. One said spike and the other 8pt, made me chuckle for some reason

10p followed them and start to gently chase her around. He would have been a shooter but he’s got 4 tines snapped off.

My dad just called and said I have several does and bucks in my food plot. One is a tall 8, one is a big 8 and a couple of smaller bucks as well. Said there was a big buck that ran out before he could get the glasses on them too, so unsure of what one he was.. maybe the 10 I have on cam.. they are active and chasing in southern il!

My season is in question at this point.. no doubt I will hunt some more but I am sick at this point. I have a mono type virus and get tired/out of breath just walking around the house. I have had it for a week or so and the last couple of times I have been out is a struggle. If I go out anytime soon it may take me an hour to get to a tree that would normally take me 20 minutes to get to. I hope to make it out for a few sits but I will have to see how I feel in the upcoming days at this point.

Heck, I got tired just typing that

Now a small 6 right under me. That looks like it’s going to be it. The last 2hrs or so have been fantastic. I will pull some stills from 2 of the bucks I got on camera and post later on (about 2hrs)

Damn, that sucks. Heal yourself up, there's a season every year and the bucks will only get bigger.

Was on the ground tonight, tons of scrapes all over in this honeysuckle along the edge of CRP and some pines. Had about the smallest 8 point I ever seen come up to within 5 yards. Year and a half but 8 points. He could see me but couldn't figure out what I was in my ghillie suit. He started to circle downwind and then I snort wheezed at him before he could wind me, and he took off like a scalded dog with his tail between his legs! Only dear I saw other than the two crossing the road when I was putting my boots on.

    Best I could get

The morning started off pretty uneventful. Deer generally come down a path in front and just to the left of this stand. With changes happening I wasn't sure what to expect, groundblind, trail cameras not knowing who hunts, when or where etc..

About 7:10am I heard a deer blowing to the northeast, ultimately direction this bucks bed and where he came from, and a doe and fawn hopped out across the trail and up to an oak. They browsed there for a few minutes and then walked off.

About 7:35 I look to the north(my left) and seen a lone doe, then another and two fawns joined her. They milled about underneath the stand that is 45 yds away, and one of the does was eagle eyeing that stand. No one was in it but she was head bobbing. I then recalled on my walk out Friday that there was a Pepsi can stuck to a bow holder screwed in the tree. Wasn't there now, so she obviously had encountered someone in it. They then start working towards me, 2 of them nervous of the new blind directly behind me. One doe and fawn head west and the other set keep coming towards me, they come around the tree and stand directly in front of the trail cam staring at it. I damn near shot her wondrring if it would get caught on cam, but being Nov. 7th I decided against it. They ultimately went west with the other two. Definitely skittish at the other stand/blind/cam but never spooked.

At 8:05 I catch movemement towards the anticipated path, thought it was just a bird hopping branches but caught a glimpse of antler. Got ready just in case, but it's about 45yds so started looking through the scope(x-bow). He stepped out and I started to count points, seen a split type brow and looked to be atleast mainframe 8, had good brows so decided I would take a shot if presented.

Didn't like the current shot, was afraid he would take a step with his offside leg and bring that near side leg back a bit. Waited for him to turn a bit quartering, when he did I let it fly. He was moving faster than I thought and may have jumoed the string a bit.

I thought I seen it enter far back towards the offside shoulder. WRONG! You guys have seen the placement. Walked up to the pond and had signal so posted up here as I headed to the truck.

First blood, thought it had bubbles but was just dew/frost.

Then it became obvious it was muscle, but a lot more pumping

Figured he had to be down and close. Rounded the top and caught glimpse, kicked him in the ass and he was done

Looked over and seen a bed, remembered VS's recovery

    20181107_091851.jpg

He made it to within 2 feet, sapplings rubbed all around

Figured since I was on cam going up stand, then a doe, then me coming down and recocking now I would drag it past the cam on the way out so they knew I didn't shoot a doe
