    0 blood. Still searching.

If they can't find blood he's going to search the river bottoms. They are surrounded by corn fields which is not good. It's not looking good at this time though.

Well crap. Killed my buck last year on Nov. 8th, 2015 and 2016 were the 7th.

So will have to be 3 of the last 4 on the 7th.

I think he went in way too early and that decreases his odds further. 3 hours min. on a confirmed liver and 6 hours+ on an uncertain shot.

About 3 1/2 hours since he initially posted so gave it barely 3 hours. Hopefully they stumble on to him, but if he is still alive and no blood he's going to be in the next county.

I think we are talking about 2 different scenarios. One of my friends shot a giant in SD last night, backed out until this morning, and now can't find blood.

Looking at the diagrams you guys posted, I doubt I got lung. It was most likely liver or gut unfortunately. Tony, my arrow was about the same location as yours vertically but a little farther back. I think I may have found his tracks just inside in the tree line but still zero blood. I’ve got to go to work but I’ll be back in a few hours to start following those tracks some more and grid search if I have to. Man this really sucks but I’m going to do everything I can to find this deer.

Thank you guys for all of the great advice!

If the shot was that far back, waiting is the best thing you can do. Guts are going to plug that hole. You may not find much (any) blood, but that doesn't mean he isn't dead...just give the boy time.

Work is going to suck, but it may be a blessing in disguise amd keep you from wamting to press on.

How high up were you? You said 40 yds and mid way up, wondering about trajectory. Whether that 10-12 could have poked through the belly or something.

I wondered the same thing. Even at 40yds shouldn't have a problem slicing through.

Not sure if it was mechanical broadhead or not, maybe a failure if it was.
