that seems kind of harsh. Long as they aren't trespassing.
Amish are for the most part really good people. Yeah, they don't mind killing out of season, but I have a different take on it because they are subsistence killers. It's not like they got a freezer to keep deer all year round. First Americans do the same thing and I don't begrudge it.

I've never heard of an Amish person denying permission to go on their land to retrieve. I've even had a couple offer to help track. My MI deer camp is surrounded by them and the guys are always stopping by to chat and check out the buck pole.

SS, on a hill like this I would agree- Can't tell from the pic that Shane posted, but it looks like the type of Midwest terrain where the ridge tops are plateaus and the ridges are fingers. Deer typically bed/run the military crest, but bucks range between the military crest and even the edge of the top to catch thermals from below while watching/scent checking the tops. I've seen them run a zig zag pattern bag and forth roughly parallel to the edge of the ridges.

Sounds like a good day for it, with the activity you have been seeing. Should start picking up again for you here shortly!

Well all I saw was 5 deer, 4 of which I know were does. No grunting, no chasing, just squirrels building nests

I grunted in a nice mature 8pt to 20 yards. He was facing me, caught my wind and turned inside out. That was at about 8am. My buddy shot a decent 8pt but the rut is NOT on yet here. My 8pt came in with a smaller 8pt with him. They shouldn't be friends!

It is quiet here. Neither me or my buddy have seen anything yet. I sure could go for a cup of coffee that sun is putting me to sleep.

    your neighbor Boonerville would disagree.
    Maybe those deer are :dan:
...not that there's anything wrong with that. Give a few grunts and watch them both come screaming in!

I always grunt at them if they aren't coming towards me. If you can get them to look, that's all it might take to post BBD! Within 30 minutes.
