Sitting here (red squiggle) this afternoon. Don’t have a stand in there but found a few big big rubs 2 weeks ago (first time I stepped foot in this south woods was 2 weeks ago). South/SE wind. Corn in the west and north fields. Anything on the inside of the yellow is being pushed by pheasant hunters every weekend.

Gunna break out my grunt and maybe even rattle while I’m in there.

    Blood needs to be spilled.

Was hoping to get out this afternoon but not looking like make it. Good luck everybody else and nice doe Tony.

Anybody know if pond mud is a good cover scent ha. All serious tho I dont think ive seen so many turtles, frogs or tadpoles in my life. For the little bit of water that was still in here there were thousands of the tadpoles. Too bad don't go fishing much woulda made good bait. [IMG]

Congrats to the killers! I've been doing a great job of spooking deer as I walk in or as I leave the stand. Does that count??

So here's the wind I'm dealing with on this, the last day that I'll be able to hunt this piece of public land before the gates close until december. Do I go for broke, caution to the wind, and hunt, or go home?? Nothing to lose, so I hunt...

Go big or go home, not sure what the terrain looks like but a 5mph wind becoming calm really doesn't matter which way it is blowing from.

You setting the stand for the sit or already up?

I'm back on stand. Did about 3 hours of scouting then ate lunch. Now back in different location then this morning. About a mile away from before. Sitting in a very odd spot. It's about 3 acre swamp pushed up against a major interstate and road that crosses it. I'm setup about 80 yards off the road. Major rub line coming in here from last night! Won't have many shots, it's so thick! He could walk by me at 20 yards and I would never see him.

Is pretty hilly terrain. Mountains, ridges, benches. The wind pretty much always swirls, even with a steady direction forecast, but this takes the cake.
I'm up a tree. Been cool, overcast, and rainy all morning. Set till 11, grabbed food, and back in a tree by 130. Closest to an all day sit I've ever done I believe

Good luck! If the forecasted wind holds I will be sitting in a very similar set up Saturday afternoon.

Tomorrow morning I am knocking one down fellas! I think it's supposed to be around 49* for me in the morning which will be my coldest hunt of the season so far. I'm pretty lucky that me and my best friend run one of our offices. We take turns heading up to the lease on friday's and this is my Friday to head up early. Wish me luck when I report from this thread in the AM!
