Two nights in a row now I had a coyote come through the middle of my hunt and blow every deer I had around me out of the woods!! I had a pretty nice buck about 50 yards from me last night working his way right to me when all of a sudden he starts getting nervous and runs off! Out of the corner of my eye I see something running through the woods and realized it was the coyote! I started making a squealing sound with my mouth and stops on a dime and comes right into where I was! He hung up in some pretty thick cover and I never could get a clean shot at him. I watched walk off and a few deer did come back into the area I was hunting but they were extremely cautious and eventually they left. Definitely need to get rid of this guy!! I have been hunting my family’s farm for over 25 years and this is the first coyote I have ever seen!

If I read it right you can hunt them till March in New Jersey. Might be time to break out the old rifle or shotgun once deer season is over and put a smack down on them.

I have had the same experience before with coyotes but the most exciting one that I had was when a bear came through when I had deer around. Let me tell you the deer did not stick around to ask questions when the bear showed up, I think they may still be running and that's been 2 years ago.

It sucks but it happens. Me and my boy were hunting last week and we were packing up our stuff in the blind. I was putting his crossbow away and a yote came prancing out of the woods at 15 yards. I had my boys crossbow in my hand so I smoked him with a 3'' swacker expandable. I put down every yote I get a chance at.

It happens, but the deer will be back and won't leave just because I coyote spooked them. They deal with yotes on the daily. Just part of life for them. Sucks it spooked them during your hunt though.

Soak a sponge in bacon grease, let it dry, and put it out there. He will be gone in no time.

Coyote will eat it and the sponge will get stuck in the digestive system. Considering that typical sponges are non expanding these days it likely will not kill a coyote.

I've had an issue with yotes as well this year. Early season I was lined up at a doe and she started blowing at a coyote. Ended up seeing 8 of them that night. That will be taken care of after deer season with the boys.

  19. just shoot it and get rid of it..! annoying little bastards.. however, I have multiple camera photos of deer feeding with coyotes, sometimes stomping at him, kind of funny to see.
