I shot a good buck tonight at 1815. I hit him in the back shoulder. I was using a rage hypodermic at 70lbs. Saw him run with my arrow in him and he broke the arrow off, leaving my broadhead and about 4-5 inches of my arrow in him. I put the arrow in the ground where I found it. I did not see any blood at all. I backed out and will look for him at first light. Any advice would help. Thanks Jim from Missouri Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Really hard to say, did you have enough angle to catch only one angle or possibly two? I personally would wait as long as possible pending temperature. Call in a dog if you have that option. Goodluck I hope you find you're buck
That's why I HATE rage type heads!! I thought they leave a huge blood trail? All hating aside, that small amount of penatration doesn't sound promising.
4-5 inches is enough to kill, the lungs are only 1.5 inches or so under the skin. Good luck and if you dont find him right away watch for crows Sent from my SM-N920P using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Good luck finding him, 4-5” is enough penetration to kill a deer. Might go a long ways tho, check water and then surrounding bedding if you don’t come up with a blood trail. I would also get a dog if your state allows to aid in recovery. Keep us posted
Sad to say, I took the whole day Sunday and looked. No blood. I know he is still alive. Thank you for your time and input. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

This is the exact reason I switched back to muzzy 3 blad 125s it only took me three shoulder hits with no recovery to switch. It’s a horrible feeling to watch a deer run off with that much arrow hanging out. Switched two years ago it paid off the first year. Hit a doe high the muzzy blew through both shoulders and she dropped like a stone.
