I saw the big 9 a few minutes before I got down. He came in but was facing me the whole time. He stood there about 25 yards out for a couple minutes then he turned and ran. I had no shot opportunity. That was the only deer I saw all evening. Did see 10 turkeys.

I did that for 3 months earlier in my marriage. Not a very fun time for sure.

I never have had to. Been fortunate to be able to stay home. I travel for work a couple times a year but that's about it.

Are you able to pop a Turkey? I always buy a tag for 6 bucks here in Illinois. Killed a couple over the years.

How many of you stay in your stand til it's dark? Or do you get down when you can no longer see enough to make a good shot. For me I usually get down 5 to 10 minutes before legal shooting light ends cause I usually can't see well enough by then to shoot anything.

Season opened this past Saturday and last til about Thanksgiving or a little before. I may take one if I get a chance at a long beard. So far the last 2 times in this spot I've seen nothing but hens.

I travel usually a couple weeks a month. Usually for 3-4 days at a time. Not a bad gig. I work for a construction company so it’s better than moving to a job site. I did that when I was younger. Wife and kids changed my outlook on what I wanted.

If I am in the timber and you cant see then I'll get down. But if I am hunting on a field edge and facing the west I'll stay until last light.

I dont want to take a shot unless I really know what's on the receiving end of the arrow. Especially a buck.

Depends on how familiar with the spot I am. If i feel like I know may way around well enough, I will stay past dark. If it is a new spot, I may leave a couple of minutes early.

Shawn, sounds like you came close today with the big nine. Why do you think he ran? Did he smell you? Did he blow?

Well, he did not blow. He just turned and ran. I'm guessing the wind kicked up and he was down wind. About a second after the wind blew, he took off. So I'm guessing he caught some scent, probably mine, that he did not like.

Im looking at getting in to a utility company for the money cause I don't make enough in this s small town...not really hip on traveling for 5 days at a time but the pay is good and the wife supports me on it. I've never spent more than a few days at time away from home even doing construction. I have 5 kids and 2 grand kids that we had to adopt. It will suck ☹️. But like I said money is good and so are the befits and only be able hunt or fish on the weekend when I'm home...

How many of you have used the nose jammer product? Do you think it works good?
